    Selling my mk1 Escort

Well with mixed emotions I’ve put my mk1 Escort up for sale.
What’s been exceptionally nice is that I’ve been able to get it running (it’s easy to spend £ doing this but that’s not my style).
I touch on it in the advert but when you’ve been collecting bits from yonks ago to build it up has been a tear jerker.

I took it round to let my mate drive it (he was kind to me with my first ever engine rebuild (the one that I took through on the train where he picked me up ‘is Iain bringing his engine in tomorrow, yes I’ve to pick him up at the train station as he’s bringing it on the train-what...’ & xr engines back in the day).
His 21 yet old daughter was rolling about in the back seats, he was smirking from ear to ear & the wife made my dinner but was also excited.

Although it didn’t need to be motd I thought best to & even there one of the employees (who I chat to about motorcycle racing) said to his apprentice to tell me (why not just ask me lol) that he would love a shot so of course he was the first person to drive it.

Then another mate brought his Bernese Mountain dog massive pup through, where my mum then cane out to see it.
It’s just been such a warm experience.
Mind you I’ll be glad when it’s gone.

Of course this is all made easier by having the ‘rotten as a pear’ replacement so I’ll still have a mk1 in my life.
    Anyway enjoy.

It isnít the kind of advert that I would write for something like this, but it is a fun read.

The perfect buyer for this is the home restorer that canít weld! A little focus on the mechanicals, some time in the body shop, bingo. GTWLS... and what follows!

Yes that’s it Simon. The engine I put in is worthless (that’s why I put it in) & it served it’s purpose in letting me test all the untested mechanicals. Anyway that was the theory & I wanted to see what all the fuss about making rwd sumps was. Plus I like a ‘clever’ engine conversion & they say play to your skills & ive been doing this sort of welding for over 20 years so for me it’s ‘normal’ & I sort of enjoy it.

I wasn’t taking it any further & it’s been fun to build which has only increased its value. I did have some fun with the advert but then I don’t really do convention & this has worked.

Yes it’s sold but there’s been a grief but I’ll update tomorrow hopefully.

As said I’m not really sad anymore as I’ve got it’s replacement of which I was out picking up panels for at the weekend.
