    Northloop Golf Day

Controversial, but if it isn稚 your thing, then resist the urge to comment!

Any interest in a Northloop golf day? There are a few of us on here who play.

Typical society 1 nighter format - Saturday lunchtime tee-off, dinner, beers, Sunday 10am tee, home. The golf / accommodation / meal is normally very reasonably priced for these things. The bar bill is ****ing horrendous.

Probably tail end of the summer, somewhere North of the M25.

No promises from me or you, but if there is a core body of people, I値l get some availability / pricing.

We did one of these a good few years ago, Kingporn, big Davy G and myself played a couple of rounds down Reading way.

I would be up for this, depending on date etc

Never have I seen a car forum debased to such a disgusting level before.

This is way worse than the Brexit thread.

Even crap fishing would be better than this.

Any cap on handicap. I am pretty "varied" in ability. Can go from pars, to losing 2 balls on the next hole

It changed recently - handicaps now theoretically go up to 54 (used to be 28). Should mean that anyone can be competitive. All that really matters is that people are honest and that in the final reckoning the players who played - for them - good golf are near the top and those that played poorly - for them - are near the bottom.

Last time out, I played off 36, played very averagely and was mid-table.

Shall we just hire buggies, sack of the golf and see who can do the biggest jumps out of the bunkers?

Got a great idea. How about we arrange a track day where a bunch of petrol head friend can meet up and have some giggles.

    Is it April fools ?

    Of course I’m in.
We should nominate a non player to be our caddy.
I’ve a list of 3 main protagonists (Nige, SteveM & DH).

Hmmmm, I remember it well. I woke up in the morning bollock naked on my bed thinking what's that breeze and what's that noise? Turns out my bedroom door was wide open and the other guests were having a treat (or a scare) as they walked to breakfast.

When the barman wanted to close up, buying the full bottle of Jager and gallons of red bull wasn't our finest moment

    Never again ...............

    Well I say that

If the dates suit I might be tempted out of retirement

Well, on my work's little semi-competitive (I go for the pint after....) weekly golf in the summer, I hover around the low 20s. Want to get to a point I can say I am off 18 and stick there, but that's unlikely the way I hit the ball

Just out of curiosity, what handicaps are we talking here?

I assume we are talking about correct ones for those who play regularly and fair ones for those who don't.
I've played about 10 times in the last 2 years. I give myself 18 and I've played to it once. I'm always likely to score well on some and blob on others, so 18 is fine for me.

When I played most golf days everyone was off 28 that hadn't played before as such. Think 29 was the closest I ever got to it, 36 is fairer but some cnut will say they never play and be an absolute bandit

Would like to participate in this, but geography renders the prospect improbable.

I'm a club-member and a 13-handicapper, yet I haven't been there or swung a golf-club in a few years... I've spent such time at my Tennis club, much more fun!

    13 is good going.

On a golf social this weekend, thoroughly looking forward to it (Old Thorns, nr. Liphook). However, summer appears to have stopped. Arse.

Oh Rory & as for that silly missed putt at 16? even I can do that. Looks a real test of golf though (Portrush).
Handicaps-when I was 15 I got to 9.5. Now it looks like I値l never get to single figures as I just go up all the time

Well fair play to Portrush-what an event & of course a local winner in Lowry.
Record crowds & scenes more akin to a football match with singing-wasn’t it fantastic.
I’ll also say (& like everything nowadays have to back it up with the beebs intro also touching on it) it was also fantastic to see how far the country has come since the troubles.

Also loving the new trace line showing the ball flight when teeing off.
