Thread: What video editing software?

    What video editing software?

Having just bought a GoPro hero 7 I'd like to know what software you lovely people use to edit footage?
We are off to Florida shortly and I'd like to make a video of the trip combining normal speed footage with hyper lapse, music etc.

I don't want to pay more than a few pounds for it

What do you use and is it any good?

I use a combo of iMovie and Final Cut, and spoke with Al about this before commiting to learning FCP. Think he's now moved to/recommending https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/pro...avinciresolve/

Final Cut and DaVinci Resolve both have steep learning curvers, Final cut also has a steep price tag. Resolve is free for home use.

iMovie on the Mac is less powerful but far easier to pick up and use. It does 90% of what I need in a much friendlier way, I only switch to FCP if I have to these days.

Al Clark dropped Adobe and switched to Resolve for his work. It`s free and if it's good enough for Al and the superb stuff he does I suspect it'll be adqeuate for you

    Ah, Olly said the same.

Yeah, Resolve is harder to learn so it depends if you have the inclination to do so. How-to guides on Youtube for pretty much everything you may come across though

iMovie is pretty much made for Garyís use case. Iíve used it on the iPad and MacBook and it is really simple and has a stack of easy to use effects.

If you know *exactly* what you want to achieve, Iím sure the pro-level stuff is streets ahead, but a nice little video of memories... iMovie all the way.
