    New Top Gear

I'm thinking this has a chance of being decent entertainment.

    It were awright, that.

I'm guessing BBC World didn't get a vote on who the new presenters would be. The subtitles people are going to struggle, along with the viewers desperately Googling what "the buthplace of yoomankind" means

I would say its about time that Northern folk got some main stream telly box stuff they could understand

and as the BBC has now sort of moved all its staff up north it follows that we will have to get used to this.

for me way to many beeps and as for a table foot ball bit was this about 3 middle age guys having a good time paid for by the BBC licence tax payers "yes" it was a bit like one of the programs where the parents covertly watch there kids on holiday getting up to stuff they know they should not be doing

    Entertaining: sort of
Better than Chris Evens : yes
will look at the next one : May be
    format : looks the same

complaints to the BBC : you bet there will be

just have to suck it and see I guess

loads of good stuff on Dmax these days

"opinions are like back sides, everyone has one"

Very funny. I had feared the new line up would be a bit ‘laddy’ for proper car geeks but it was hilarious. Monkey is having an absolute riot filming with those two!

I was dubious with the new line-up... but pleasantly surprised with the result.

Nonetheless, I lament the absence of Matt Le Blanc - an obvious car-guy and a likeable chap.

    I enjoyed it.

Watched it on catch up, on iplayer after it had aired. Not so many bleeps. Just a couple to cover up the F word. I suspect it was bleeping a lot on the 2000 hrs showing.

Good to see 3 of them on the adventures again. Rather than just joey and Harris and Rory left out. They seem to have a good bond already.

I like the adventures. Always entertaining. The studio stuff is always a bit meh, no matter who is presenting.

Doesn't sound particularly good vs older Ferraris, but that pick-a-gear torque makes it look very quick

I enjoyed it. Never thought I'd say that again about Top Gear. I just hope Harris continues to tone down his pretend surprise and daft facial expressions. Let the norvern monkeys be norvern monkeys and it will all gel together well.

    I really enjoyed it.

Paddy was very good, Chris seemed more relaxed and I hope Freddy will relax a bit more. He came across as the least natural at times.

They certainly seem to get on. Hopefully it's genuine as it'll only get better.

  27. #27
I'd agree that Freddy was the least natural, and the fawning over the country at the end was too close to Clarkson IMO.

    Actually really enjoyed it.

Seems Harris is the new Hammond, Freddy is the new May and Paddy the new Clarkson.

I suspect that if they go down that way of thinking, they'll not last. They simply need to be themselves, have a laugh and arse about doing stuff we can dream of.

It is a success then....that was the big reason I enjoyed TG of old. One of very few programmes that the whole family sat and watched and I have fond memories of it, especially now that both Mongos have grown up and sodded off.

I really enjoyed it last night. Not too over the top.

I laughed that they were using extension leads to charge their cars from the Travel Lodge rooms!

I realise that the presenters have banter, but I am starting to cringe that they are ganging up on Chris all the time.

It's funny more banter ish and its strange to see them all helping each other rather than leaving each other.

When Harris said that I nearly cried. The feeling of him saying they're cool washed over me. I opened a beer at that point. And I still don't have the replacement home.

And I'm acutely aware of how they handle with weight in the back. I'm wholly unsurprised Flintoff couldn't get it stopped and turned on the wet cobbles of Mansfield with the batteries on-board. But where was his 500bhp? Miles off.

The Leaf with the aged batteries was quite a shock, no? Naff all range!

Funny episode and the banter is far improved from LeBlanc/Reid (Rory was particularly awful) even though I liked Joey.

The constant ribbing about Harris's height does make me laugh - no chance wasted to get a cheeky joke in. Feels very much like three school mates who've known one another forever.

I was veeery sceptical of the new team, but two episodes in and I'm won over. Mrs S also enjoyed it, which says a lot since she'd tired of the Clarkson/Hammond/May antics of old TG/GT and never really liked much of the Joey/Rory/Harris TG.

I laughed a LOT at the electric shock sequence

I'm certainly enjoying this series more, although as always I fast forwarded through the celeb bit.

Clearly (judging by the previous posts in this thread..) I'm in the minority * - I'm just failing to warm to the latest trio of T.G. presenters! I can't but hark back to the days when T.G. was presented by proper knowledgeable enthusiasts for the interest of proper-keen enthusiasts... Not this infantile buffoonery for the entertainment of the masses, with the obvious purpose of increasing poxy ratings... Bring back Tiff Needell, Quentin Wilson, Chris Goffey, Steve Berry...!!

    * I'll quite probably be lambasted for that opinion.

    Bring back Woollard!

I've found the first two episodes very watchable, amusing and have enjoyed them, but like Rory - I would like a little more car enthusiast content to be honest. Maybe 20% more actual car focus and less c0cking around. Regardless, I'll still be watching the rest of the series and enjoying it
    Too many cars...
