Might want to include AA membership as well, as there's no way on gods earth the warranty is covering the shit that'll break.

I can pay £468.45 up front, and the rest at £1.38 a month. If it has any issues though, I want that back.

Is it irony if Al sells his RR easily via this thread?

I'm having a hard time spending money as well.

I know exactly what I want, and there are a few cars out there that meet the criteria. Except, they're all miles away. It just doesn't feel right to spend an entire day travelling around on a maybe at the moment. I was annoyed I'd wasted 3 hours looking at one the other weekend and that was fairly local.

Something will come up, just a case of bering patient.

The old shape XC90 is not the full fat tax, itís about £315.

Still loving ours - itís done 52k nearly. Great towing and fitting everything in!

I agree. I ruled out several cars of my post-Cupra replacement list on the basis that tbey just arenít plentiful enough. I wouldnít mind travelling 3 hours to see a car, but so many sellers are untruthful and I just see a high likelihood that it would be wasted time. Iím also way less fussy on spec / colour than before and / or Iíve ruled out models that wouldnít meet my expectations in standard trim.

Iíve not had any meaningful interest in the Cupra, so it is all academic really!

Thanks Tim! Sounds like weíre in the same boat.

I keep looking at MK1 XC90ís circa 2010. I do fancy one, but I keep reading bad things.

I am having all of this with the 2 cars I am trying to sell.

1 - BMW not much interest as its not a 330d yet its the same engine just de tuned, less tax and insurance. Bloke offered me £3k yesterday when i said I'd take 4.5k. His reasoning was he can get a higher mile 330d for 3k. Ok enjoy that then.

2 - The Astra. Not really wanting to sell it but I currently have 5 cars I need to sell 2 to make life more simple.

Nothing but questions on what bhp it is - I dont know I've not had it on the rollers.
The next question is will I swap it.

Bloke asked me to list it on ebay the other day as he got a loan from paypal (17.9%) so he can only buy a car on ebay buy it now

He came back to me today asking to swap with his saxo VTS and some cash.

    No thanks

I'm still trying to sell the Audi. Prices have gone through the floor.
FB Market Place full of people wanting to swap, when the ad clearly states I want to sell it.

Forget selling a car for a meaningful price this close to Christmas/New Year.

Unless you own an S8 and Pistonheads just published an article on S8's and now people seem to be chasing me to buy it.

    We have a Dec-12 XC90.

It now has 55k and FVSH, one previous owner.

Bought a comprehensive warranty for £1,200 over 3 years, covering wear and tear as well as most other stuff.

Gearbox is a little weird - hovers a bit between some years, if it breaks, warranty will cover it. Apparently itís a characteristic.

Otherwise, we love it. Really comfy, 200ps version so goes well. SE Lux so well equipped.

Boot splits so you have a little seat for kids to change wellies etc.

    We love it.

Late 2011 was facelift, still looks Ďdatedí but slightly better. It has DRLs in the bumper, that gives it away, and LED rear lights.

    We have a Dec 12 XC60 R-Design

It also have one previous owner, only he ran it out of oil and it had a new engine 20,000 miles ago.

Itís the 215bhp model, averages 31mpg (we live in London) and has a huge boot but back seats are a bit tight for grown ups.

However the gearbox is bloody awful. It lurches when being put into gear although itís ok when moving.

The steering is wooden and entirely lifeless.

    My wife loves it.

Well talk about an easy sale, my daily hack mx5 mk1 MOT fail on sills, not a big fix but surplus to reqs at the mo, so figured I'd take the good track bits off over winter & sell as near stock as a project springtime.

I spot a bloke after a project mx on that there faceache, couple of messages, comes & views, it's stuck in the barn so no driving, I don't even start it. hands shook deposit left I just need to whip the cage out.

Blimey down to just the 7 motors, another to go in new yr getting lean!

Bloke has messaged me over the bmw every day this week. Asked me if I would deliver it to which I said no. He is worried about the distance to me from his (Hes in Kent and I am near Chester) It matches his brief 100% he admits this and spotted train tickets are not expensive at all. Agreed a price etc

While this is going on he is asking on the bmw group on faceache if anyone has a car for sale so is getting offered all sorts of shit. I just put a picture up and leave it at that trolling him. His reply "If it was closer it would be on my drive now" Que several people asking what the problem is, if its right its right go get it. This led to 3/4 other people asking for my details to which led to a message off the muppet asking me not to sell it to them. I just said leave a deposit i wont...... no reply

Did have a 45 minute call with a chap at the weekend who is keen, he is currently in Sweden working till next week and hopes to come see me once back. Fingers crossed.

    Astra -

Message asking when i am free to come and have a look. I asked the bloke if he had read the advert fully and looked at the pictures as I have had a lot of people messaging who hadnt............ No reply

Sold the Audi. Got a message on Faceache saying can he view on the day.
    Yes, when?
    2 hours.
    No problem.

Rocked up, looked at it, drove it to the end of the road, paid cash and left.

Same happened with the old Golf last year.

It's the 400 idiots you have to deal with to get to the seller. I understand why WBAC and the rest of them exist now.

Bloke 1 messaged me to say he was going to look at a car 1 mile from his tomorrow. Nice one mate why message me then? He then messaged tonight about 830pm saying drive it to me tomorrow and I'll pay your train fair home. Should f**king well hope so as you've not made me a offer you C**t

I just replied I have already told you I am unavailable tomorrow as its my partners birthday. However if you let me know what time and where your train gets into Sunday I will pick you up from that place ready for you to drive home in your nice new BMW.

    I doubt I get a reply.

Bloke 2 - Booked to come see me Tuesday morning after he drops some family at the airport. He is coming from Derby so I dont really see many issues.

Good luck, Kev. Don't sell to Bloke 1 even if he actually manages to bother getting to you, actually has some money, manages to not being a complete timewaster etc. as even if he does buy it he will give you no end of hassle afterwards. Sounds exactly like a bloke I sold a Golf to once against my better judgement, turned out to be a nightmare which ended up involving legal advice and lots of messing around.

Bloke 2 sounds credible so fingers crossed

"we`ll carry out an oil service before sale sir". Thanks, but I`ll pass.

I can`t wait for the phone calls when we advertise her Mini

Have the Leon back up. Been online 12 hours, already a muppet phones.

Nothing against people from Liverpool, but knowing the distance I figured it was going to be cagey. Asked me questions that he then told me the answer to, like the price of a SEAT extended warranty.

Then we got down to price. Best price please. The asking price is the best one for me, thank you. Well there is one up here that is at £15.5k. OK, weíll buy it then. But it is a year older, has more miles and I donít like the colour. Well donít buy it then, pay more for this one, it sounds better.

Best price? It has been online for 12 hours, I donít need to sell, Iím not getting carried away now. Make me an offer near the asking price and Iíll think about it. Well, Iíve not got the money until April, so why donít I phone you back then? OK, yeah. Why didnít you wait until you had the money before wasting 10 minutes of my time?

Always expect a haggle with car sales. The price is suitably set in the first place when I sell. I expect a little low balling.

Absolutely. Every successful car sale Iíve achieved, the haggle has come towards the end of the process. Iíve sold over the phone / email and also in person, the target price is there for all to see on the advert, we work our way through the various aspects of the car and we get to the end and everyone knows that both parties are serious and we can have a little chat about price.

I donít think Iíve ever had a sale that has started with Ďwhatís the lowest youíll accept for ití.

I have, my response is always that I won't discuss offers until the viewing but make it clear that negotiation is possible though.

The worst potential buyer I had was a kid who wanted to buy a facelift Nova 1.2 I had (mint and tastefully modded, no surprise there) and he came back with his dad from the motor trade. His dad proceeded to pull every trick in the book to half the price! The worst was when he got a paint depth gauge out and told me there was filler in the roof panel. Turns out he was pointing to exactly where Vauxhall had fitted the rear hatch hinges. Numpty. Anyway he left muttering it was shit and it wouldn't sell.

Next viewer bought it without hesitation

The worst potential buyer I had was a kid who wanted to buy a facelift Nova 1.2 I had (mint and tastefully modded, no surprise there) and he came back with his dad from the motor trade. His dad proceeded to pull every trick in the book to half the price! The worst was when he got a paint depth gauge out and told me there was filler in the roof panel. Turns out he was pointing to exactly where Vauxhall had fitted the rear hatch hinges. Numpty. Anyway he left muttering it was shit and it wouldn't sell.

Next viewer bought it without hesitation
Iím sure that some people can be bullied into a massive discount, but it has got to be rare?

Best discount I ever got was on a Puma from a heavily pregnant single mum (to be). Suddenly realised that the Puma wasnít viable. 15 years later, still feel bad about that one. Was a great car though.
