Due to logistical, mechanical and personnel complications, I won't be participating in D.N.#20.
I've informed Darren, who kindly kept a space open for me & my mates.
So I won't be partaking in that requested pax-lap Nige.
Will defo be at the subsequent D.N. though!!

With Jamie pulling out (likely) then every cloud/silver lining & all that means we'll likely be around.

No need to consider us for pass rides although I guess I shouldn't speak for Rae.

No, he’s going to Chester. It’s just the hotel is in Nurburg.
Simon no longer owes me anything, Dave does though.

Nige. I am likely to have a young man with me who would love to grab Rory’s place at DN20.

    Sure

Going to be plenty people at that one. ! I`m going with Matt and Gav from work (he went to Cadwell with me last year and Thruxton last month). 2 days should give us a lot of opportunities for passenger laps

Here lies the body of Mary Lee, died at the age of a hundred and three. For fifteen years she kept her virginity, not a bad record for this vicinity.

Passing Spa on Sunday around mid day, likely to be a bad idea?

Nice day today. Easy run over, got us in the area at lunchtime. However the 3am start is taking its toll slightly.

Managed to watch TF for a fair amount of time, get annoyed at the catch fencing from a photography perspective and eat a curry and chips pizza.

Back at the room now, knackered.

Off to Cochem early doors, then the circuit in the afternoon. See you there people. Have a great day and be safe

Bitburger has got me to 8.46, I'm going for another half hour at least. It's all good

Shame we didn't get weekends together

    TF looked bloody busy today

Great day today. Went to Cochem. Did the chairlift with the kids, had lunch, then back to the track to watch and take photos.

Big thank you to Paul, for very kindly taking Alfie for a drive in his GT3. He loved it. It made his trip

    Twatty personalised plate Mr. King.

Looks like you guys are having a blast over there.

Saw you on the dd terrace, came to say hi later after a few tf laps in the mx5 of awesome but you'd scooted off.

The bmw past me earlier when I was on my push bike saw the plate & guessed it was you.

What a fantastic day it was yesterday! Not a single closure all day and the Golf was absolutely brilliant, until the last lap.

Then it shat its gearbox so game over.

My spare gearbox is in the garage at home.

But until then I had some truly memorable laps, and I have a new favourite picture after arranging with Jochen to get a new jump photo at pflanzgarten

  36. #136
I arrived at mini karousel just after you went by and waited ages for you to come back Nige, camera at the ready. You didn't. Then when we gave up and strolled back to the car you came by on the lorry. Glad to hear you had some nice laps before the issue occurred

Bloody catch fencing is rubbish for photography by the way - really spoiled things

    Great Jochen shot as usual

Great picture Nige, but you're probably looking at the reason for your gearbox failure right there. ;-)

Sorry to hear about the gearbox Nige Great photo though

I 'did' a rear diff upon landing after a bit of 'air' so it is possible to damage easily through landing loading despite being careful.

Blooming warm out there today. Been to several viewing spots before lunch at the devil's diner where I caught up with loads of others I hadn't seen in ages. Then a walk up the castle, prior to half hour at the room now, before the kids and I go and have a watch of TF for a bit.

Certainly put a shift in over the last couple of days. Knackered

Just want to say a big thanks to Darren and his team for yet another fantastic event

I think it helps that Darren’s events come with a 95% guarantee of great weather due to his special relationship with the Eiffel gods, but even so this event seemed to stand out as one of the best

Everyone I met was there to enjoy lapping. No egos, no dickheads, no mental drivers. The laps were almost always clear of any cars, free of incident, and the speed differential between most cars and drivers seemed fairly low so there wasn’t much drama. It’s everything TF isn’t, which is a great way of learning the track as each lap is far more consistent

No race teams, people testing, and no groups of “lads” with Harry’s lap timer on display who were mingling together and talking about killing GT3s

If there’s a chance of adding a second Ringmeisters double day event next year, it gets my vote. Looking forward to DN20, guaranteed sunshine (again), and hopefully the car will be in one piece for Spa on the return

I think it’s also worth acknowledging that for those who don’t want to do TF, a number of people took a big risk in the early days to establish DN and each event has continued to improve on the last. Without the DN calendar it would be slim pickings for UK-organised events out there. Muchos gracias to everyone who helped make that happen so that days like the last few could be enjoyed

  46. #146
    ^ Well said Hobbit.

It sounds nigh-on like the best way to lap the 'Ring; no messing, just pure clean lapage. Well done to Darren and all involved, glad the event was such a success.

As I'm stuck on a ferry now for 30 hours, and then another ferry after that, I'll just add my appreciation for these DN events, I still remember the very first one when a NS trackday seemed like one of the craziest things in the world and it's only gotten better. I've missed most of them, mind, but it's nice to come back every now and then in the knowledge that everything will be organized perfectly.

Next time, I'll try to cause less trouble by not obliterating the noise limits and upsetting ze Germans.
