my mates mate from Chesterfield in the blue clio had brake failure by the way Steve!!! Lost all fluid when a fitting or something came off his Brembos. Hence the weird lines, he was lucky not to have had a massive one, the drivers side front wheel was ruined.

Thanks those for arranging it all!

Who was the hooligan behind the wheel of the m5 when it left 11's out of the pits and round the T1?

    Bring on next year!
    That would be me ;)

He was a long way into the gravel for sure... if he had hit the brakes earlier he would have been in the wall.

Some footage from my elise, I think there's a few northloopers in there. I forgot to plug the external mic back in after changing the battery at lunch so the audio gets a bit crap.

    What a great event.

Good curry and company on Saturday night and then a brilliant day on track on Sunday. Even the traffic on the trip home was not too bad.

Car went well. Had a liitle bit of brake judder early on in the morning, but that cleared up as the day wore on. Suspect it was just down to lack of use this year
Driver was probably also a bit rusty at first but felt more confident by the end.

As usual with these NL events, it is not just the lapping, but the social side that makes them so enjoyable.

A great day, car behaved well but kept getting vibration due to pick up on cooling down laps A bit of aggressive cornering seemed to clear it up after I scrapped a pingpong ball sized lump off the rear. Only other issue I had was fade on the brakes, which was from blocked holes in the front disc due to using it on the road for a few weeks. Took 10 minutes and a screwdriver to fix, but might change the discs over winter anyway.

Apart from the odd idiot /racer in a Ginetta, the stand of driving was good. Don't think I've done as much driving time in a day for quite a while.

Really good to catch up with people and thanks to everyone who took Oliver out, he had a great time.

Brilliant day, cold but sunny lots and lots of laps had - though sadly for me only about 6 or 7 actually driving as I was there instructing a lad on his first track day.

Good to meet a few North Loopers and see the Pinderwagen first hand for the first time

Driving standards were great all day, only couple of dodgy moments - being overtaken under the first red flag by the red Porsche 944 and blue Elise who were both at full chat. Then soon as it went green, the blue Clio that suffered brake failure lobbed it up the inside 2 wheel juuuuuuuust about on the circuit at Starkey's. Instructing soon on their first day when that happened wasn't fun as the lad was turning in, not expecting anyone to be trying to fit up the inside.

Didn't take away from an awesome day though

Yes, that was my fault, I honestly hadn't seen the red going into old hairpin as I was looking through the corner at the two slowing cars in front, then trying to work out whether I was being let through up the hill I saw a big hand gesture from inside the car which I misunderstood as a 'go past'. Quite fairly we were spoken to by two different people post incident.

I didn't see the point in chatting with anyone, it was clearly an 'ooooops' moment but did scare the crap of the lad driving as I pointed out the red flag to him at the old hair so he relaxed and took his eyes off the mirrors then the two cars went by on him.

That's me driving the MX5 at the end of the video.

What a super day. More red flags than usual on a NL day, but still plenty of lapping available.

I really enjoyed the laps with you, and was gutted I couldn't continue that session for longer due to running out of brakes. When I got back to the pits I found the front pads were worn down to the backing plate!

I only did about 20 laps in Ollieís car but they were all highly entertaining: driving something with 120ish bhp and ditchfinder tyres resulted in some interesting explorations of the circuit- it was all about momentum and learning how hard you could push the tyres before they screamed for mercy (not very hard as it happened...).

Ollie managed 160 odd miles on track and improved markedly over that time.

Best of all, he learned huge amounts about car control and how to complete Nige style field repairs with nothing but a baked bean can and 6 jubilee clips!

    Top day!

    Bloody gearbox
Luckily it just activated the light and not catch any teeth.
First time using it after having the box fitted!
Not sure if it can be improved upon apart from slightly slower changes.
5sp was much better for changes but a slightly weaker box.

I would call him but after calling him rather than another mate of the same name early hours one drunken New Year, I deleted his number

    Hey Alex

That was young Lloyd in the car, first ever track day, the lad was going ok. He was a bit sheepish about the chicane moment and out braking himself though.

I managed to sneak my laps just before lunch, car is looking pretty different now in boring ol' black but have plans to get it looking a bit more colourful in the future
