Looked at this post and thought Wow then realised my age😳 and thought a memorable list would shorten the page.

So, in no particular order 😄🚦

    Comanche Capri
    RS 3100 Capri
    Tickford Capri

    Mk1 & 2 lotus cortina

Flat front RS 1800 mk2 Escort

    Several Datsun 240 and 260 z

Nissan Sylvia turbo ( yes it was me who owned it) 😩.

At 53 I came from an era where we would swop cars in the pub on a Friday night depending on who's bird had become single and you wanted her as a seat cover for the weekend 😄🍷👙.

Loads more, but those above were memorable 👍

Company cars should not be on the list.

You might as well put every rental car down that you have had on holiday.

No but they are not free, I pay extra tax for them, in the case of the Dutch ones 8k a year extra

That means we can discount everything anyone has bought on HP or with a Bank loan then?

    No, different again.

You then either own the vehicle or the debt, depending on its residuals. You also pay out for the maintenance, insurance, fuel personally (unless its bought with a dealer/manufacture backed scheme).

Another way of looking at it you can either buy or rent a house, buying is a risk as there is no qurantee it will be worth what you pay for it, renting is quranteed to get you zero return.

Maybe it should be number of cars you've driven!

    Not much for me,

1982 X-reg Metro 1.3S (liked this car, it was very nimble and was a nicer drive than the later MG Metro that I got after someone crashed in to the back of it, heater was ace in this)
1990 MG Metro ("rare" unleaded head, turbo bodykit)
    205 GTi 1.9 later Mi16 (owned for 11years)
1999 2.8 Roadster (short stay less than a year, it was quick but was too wobbly)
    1999 M Coupe (since 2005)

    Shared ownership
Clio 182 (nice but not as a thrashable hot hatch, it excelled as a daily IMO).
    AUDI A3 TDI x3

That would be another thread altogether :D, with names and pics for the brave :D.

It's an interesting exercise seeing what people have owned/driven. Easy to see both sides of the argument: Listed both my company cars as I feel near enough like I own them.

Interesting reading everyones' posts and seeing the gaps in my own. Quite therapeutic putting the list together and taking steps back from current requirements / pressures.

Edit: Ages ago Tony and a friend of mine did the 250k theoretical car buying challenge on FB. That was much the same :D.

    8) Fiat Coupe.

***** - Christmas came early this year !

Thats for 27 years of driving. Would like to get rid of my obsession for Audis as everyday cars, but haven't found anything which could do as well during 6 months of dirt, snow and ice we have here. Plus should get some kind of BMW for the street one day...plus it never stops I guess !

I dont like it when people claim they own something when it is there dads/mothers/brothers/husbands/companies. If your not liable for the issues it is likely to cause, its not yours.

Hmm. My c200 is registered to the business. I'd best take that one off.

If I include 'work' cars then the list would be a hell of a lot longer.

    And heavier.

Thats for 27 years of driving. Would like to get rid of my obsession for Audis as everyday cars, but haven't found anything which could do as well during 6 months of dirt, snow and ice we have here. Plus should get some kind of BMW for the street one day...plus it never stops I guess !
    Nice list

Any car PCP'd actually remains property of the lessor so shouldn't be included so I need to remove the Toyota iQ.

    Is that right Pye?

Oh, but I remembered another - Escort RS Turbo. So 56 or 50 exactly for me alone. Or 49 by Pye-rules.

All of my cars were purchased outright with cash. I've never had a car on finance, a lease or a company car.

Agree with the dads/mothers/brothers bit but disagree with the company bit.

You are responsible for it and if you opted not to take it, you'd usually get an extra payment and have to buy something else instead.

Hp is ok because you are going to buy it at some point. But a Co smoker is free apart from some tax shizzle and fact you pick it from a list in most cases.

If we included every Co car as well then ive had just about every new car taxed since 1995. So lets just keep it real.

What about cars paid for with company car allowance?

  46. #96
And how many people have had their own lease or pcp where they've paid every month but don't ever own it.

Personally I think if your name is on the V5 as registered keeper then it is 'your' car, regardless of who legally owns it or what the finance situation on it is.
