Left home early. 226M to go.

    M1, boring but shortest route.

    woohoo, M25, getting there.

SatNavs... Hmm, they dont realise you`ve got a bloody great trailer behind. :(

After a 4:45hr journey, I arrived and we put the new Golf on trailer. I`m it`s 4th owner :o

    Leavingeasy (Nick) looking on

Following Shergars (Jasons) brilliant MK2. A VERY nice Golf. Superb engine :thumb: Called @ pub and had lunch :thumb:

Saw this old banger whilst picking some bits up.

And an unfinished project. Called @ Nicks for some more parts and met SAM. Who talked about HIS car all the time. The steering wheel was off, looks like he`s following in his fathers footsteps   Had coffee @ Oak Manor.

    Set off for home @ 16:00. M25 was busy :( 1 mile in 45 mins :o

I`ll start updating the other thread now the donor is here.

Engine out, dashboard out, seats out, doors and tailgate off, front suspension and subframe removed, entire wiring harness labelled and removed :thumb:

Just rear subframe to drop, plastic windows and windscreen to remove, heater to remove and a few bits, then shell can be scrapped. Its going well. Hope the build goes as well

roadworks were making all the vehicles use the outside 2 lanes. I was stationary at the time.

You can just see the roadsign showing the outside 2 lanes only :)

I have done the same journey Nige, albeit from slightly further South than you, and my god it takes a while! Glad the ongoing project it moving at quite a pace!

Seeing that traffic makes me so glad I don't live in Blighty anymore
Here lies the body of Mary Lee, died at the age of a hundred and three. For fifteen years she kept her virginity, not a bad record for this vicinity.

I think Nige is going for the fastest re-build in history!
Forgive my ignorance, is this shell better than the other one?

Its a superb shell, absolutely mint :thumb:

I now have 5 weeks in which to fit all my bits into the new shell, and replace some broken / worn parts :o

hmmm. ask me in 4 weeks.... :P

To be honest, so long as the engine runs OK, everything else is known, just transferred over. Same gearbox, clutch, engine, brakes, just new coilovers.

yes mate, at the time, i`d had enough and would happily have sold my JK and walked away.

reason asserted itself and now i`ve moved on, bought a donor and am doing my best to prepare it for the end of May. I`ll give you a bell when I`m over and meet up :thumb:
