Saw a Hurricane fly over at low altitude while out for a lunchtime walk. Seeing things like that makes any day better.

NOT A PICTURE I HAVE TAKEN:

I’ve decided to look on the funny side of this particular ‘problem’. My brother is such a worrier. Golf weekend with 4 of us and the broad plan is to all go up in the Superb Estate. My guess was that it would all fit. An overnight bag each, a couple of cases of wine and our golf kit. I have never used that car for golf, but the boot is massive. I put a golf club in the boot lengthways, just to check... plenty of headroom on the irons and the woods will have to peak out of the ski hatch. I declared that it will all definitely fit.

For my brother, I’m literately having to put golf clubs in and out of the car, taking photos of them to show that the boot will swallow our stuff.

It is literately ‘will they go sideways’, ‘can you take a picture with the trolley in there’, ‘what about...’

Bearing in mind that the alternate plan is to just take two cars. Which the second driver (who is not my brother) is happy to do on the spur of the moment. It is only to make the thing more fun that one car load would be better. No particular pick-up is out of the way and we’re only going from Kent to Essex

Just called time on the photos. Enough. It’ll fit.

Brother will be stewing until we’re bloody well home again at this rate

    Don't play golf: problem resolved.

I've been tagging photos on Instathing of my Golf with #Golf and have had numerous follows from idiot golfists, which has entertained me.

There are some golf muppets out there, that is for sure. Real boring freaks.

I quite like the game, but really enjoy the male-bonding. I know that sounds gay, but it is some time away from the family with people that I like, some beers and they type of conversation that normally only perpetuates in all-male environments is welcome. Walking 20+ miles in two days, dragging a bag of tin around doesn’t hurt either.

But, urgh, my brother and the bloody stuff in the car

Half tempted to hitch up the trailer...

and strap your brother into it?

I think I get this sort of stuff from clattering about in a barn, working on vehicles, with mates, although there's less walking and possible more extensive swearing and injuries and less weird clothing.

Been asked to go to a interview Friday by 1 company and then another company asked me to visit them for a interview with them on Monday

Both approached me, better pay for both, better hours and better opportunities it seems. See how it goes hey! Nothing to loose

Sat in a cafe today after passing 4 young ladies riding push bikes some miles back. The 4 in question all polled up and sat and had tea and cakes. They’d got the train from Edinburgh north, cycled a bit and then bunkhoused, cycled some more and after tea and tiffin were gonna catch the train back to uni in Edinburgh.
Great to see some yoofs out enjoying a bit of exercise, traveling a beautiful place and sitting with a brew without an iPhone in sight !

1st Interview - went well waiting on news but I dont like the company or anything to do with the role so I dont want it.

2nd Interview was with the director of the company. Went really well & seems a decent place, better wages, working hours and bonus would help. Still unsure if I would leave my security for it which I think I am being silly about as it maybe a great move. More targets etc but I dont see a issue with them.

Then I had a call to go to another interview for another company. Big law firm in Chester / Liverpool are creating a new department and want me to be apart of it. Sounds like a massive opportunity with many doors to open and also a developing role. It also ticks my alarm for security job wise. We will see whats said at the interview on thursday!

I doubt by the end of next week I will be employed by Lloyds any more though in honesty.

Great news on the offer. At least you have options now

When did the other job say they`d let you know ? ie, how long can you keep the others hanging on before you have to answer one way or the other.

Went to Blyton yesterday for a shakedown ready for the Ring next week.

    The car was ace

Arrived at 10:00, no rush to get there first thing then I packed up and went home at 15:15 even though the day was still running! I'd checked everything I needed to so stopped early.

Obviously that means I`ll have nothing but trouble at DN20

Spent a day with Autocar magazine at Kendrew back in July doing a piece with 4 other guys about one off modified cars.
A large part was Darkside and their Arosa but I got a 1/2 page bit about the Golf and I`m over the moon about it

Squabbling with taxi's parking at the flat-find out they don't have planning permission for their garage they don't park in !
Objection, retrospective planning application, lots of complaints & hopefully a condition of planning they have to park only inside the garage and not on the street.

    There is a god seemingly.

Bought Alfie a 1:18 scale MK2 escort in 'Heat for hire' livery. I've been looking for one for him for a fair amount of time when out and about and haven't seen anything i've wanted to get him, in budget. Bit the bullet and bought him a bigger more expensive one today. Russell Brookes car and he was at the show today. Unfortunately I couldn't find him to ask him to sign it for me. Alfie is very pleased with it though, so all good.

I completed my bi-annual Personal Fitness Assessment this morning. It has a 2.4km run and I have 12 mins in which to complete it (based on my age category). The kids (under 29) have 10 mins 30 secs. I used to do it in under 8 mins in my youth.

16 runners, most of them young lads. I came first with a time of 9 mins 29 secs. I could have gone quicker had I had someone to chase.

Given my injury I was chuffed to bits. However, it was disappointing to realise that I was the oldest at 44 and, as above, the rest were mainly junior soldiers half my age .

Probate arrived for my dads estate today. I had considered using a solicitor, but they wanted a considerable sum in the thousands to do it. Decided to do it myself. A bit of a nightmare filling out on-line forms etc, but it looks like I did ok. Submitted 6 weeks ago and probate arrived today. At least I can get on with finalising things now.

Ha ha. A high-gas day can be a delight.

Mine are normally noisy, but not smelly, so a day of SBDs is a rare treat.
