Thread: The Escort MK1 & 2 thread

    The Escort MK1 & 2 thread

Everyone's favourite rally car! (Aren't they?)

Only one rule for this thread, photos have to be Escort MK1 or MK2 (Period and modern pics welcome).

Starting with one of the most famous Escort drivers, Ari Vatanen driving the Gandy Brakes sponsored MK2 on the 1977 Scottish Rally

Same event, showing the exuberant style that endeared him to the British fans

1977 RAC Rally winner Björn Waldegård - A familiar backdrop for many on here, Oulton Park's Lodge Corner

Timo Makinen completing a hat-trick of wins on the 1975 RAC Rally

Here is a picture of Hannu Mikkola coming second at the 1980 RAC Rally.
The Talbot Sunbeam Lotus came 1st, 3rd and 4th but i’m not allowed to post a picture of that, this thread is racist.

    400hp Cosworth Turbo Engine
    6 linked
    Gaz Gold suspension
Brembo 4pots up front Sierra Cosworth discs & calipers at the rear
Think thats the main bits, altho feel free to ask if you'd like more info. I'm currently shopping for the parts to take me over 500hp which will happen over next winter. Ive already bought a new GT30 Turbo with Ex Wastegate, Hart Inlet Manifold, L8 ecu with Pectel Board (for switchable maps) and when Ive fitted them the car will be booked into Spec R for a bespoke Rad & Intercooler and breather system and then a re-map with Norris Motorsport.
The car drives really well and handles like a go kart, which is good but I prefer more power than grip as its a fun car for me rather than chasing lap times. Its each to there own is'nt it.

Bet that is pretty swift!! I'm not a fan of turbo engines in Escorts, but if you want that sort of power, its the best way.

Driving it all the way to the ring is feckin hard core. 10000 internet points to you sir!!

A couple of vids from the recent Ford Fair event at Silverstone. Thats my car in front in the first vid being followed by a mate with "busy hands" lol

    http://www.youtube.com/user/tgafronk.../0/CNm5VES-lLE

The 2nd vid is another mate in a Rover V8 powered Zakspeed liveried wide arched mk1 which sounds phenomenal with a rear facing camera.
