Well after booking a ferry for Lemans end of last year plans changed and with a hunger to get back the beloved Eiffel mountains, My other Half Kelly agreed we needed a trip to the ring and to do a bit of touring.

Come Wednesday night we packed the car and went to bed early as we had a early start. Come 2:30am we had got up and 2:48 we left Dover bound!

    (Nige style shot!)

Gorgeous sun rise on route down south

4odd hours later we arrive at dover

298 miles to a jimmy over quarter of a tank was good going to i thought

Waited for the old ferry and off we went to Viva La France

and Ians fave app was used -

Strange that the BMW are car was on the road aswell

Off the ferry at Dunkirk we headed to Bastone in Belguim to visit the memorial there. Was really interesting just a shame we arrived when it was shut due to the huge amount of sodding road works the Belgiums had

You can go to the roof and see for miles apparently (Kelly went up i never due to the fear of heights)

The stairs up put me off

We then headed off to Luxembourg for cheap fuel and at 115.9 per litre for diesel it was worth it, only needed 3/4 of a tank but still worth it for me. We Arrived at Burgstube about 9ish Thursday and went to the takeaway in Adeanu for chips and garlic bread (Kelly was pleased at this as she loved them both!)

Friday morning got up and had breakfast then decided to go visit a few people with there supplies i had brought over. Dale with his Vimto at rent for ring, in the process i hired a Swift for the saturday evening session. Stage 1 but as i hadn't driven the track for 2 years it was perfect as i would only be pottering around anyway :shame:

We then popped to Michaelas place with some special weetabix. Have to say its a cracking place with a few people there it would be ideal just a shame me and Kel had already booked with Burgstube!

We agreed to go back for tea later on as she had no guests that night!

We drove about and went for a walk around the area just chilled out then went back to Michaelas for a fantastic meal (Many thanks again for the food we both loved it!) I did get a cheeky few laps on GT5 getting a 8 minute dead lap on the board not bad i thought as i found it hard as hell with that steering wheel and set up

Back to burgstube we went for a beer and dvd in the room then off to bed!

Saturday morning came to soon but i had a call from my good friend Matty who was coming from Holland to see us and there was a VLN race on. Was good to see him again as its tradition we meet up at the ring when im there. Good to see he has finished his car ive spent hours finding and arranging parts for as there half the price of Holland in the uk

Here is the beauty its self (makes me want another but i have seen sense and wont get one

VLN was great very small field to usual as N24 is on next week and apparently people wanting to get into N24 need to of done 2 races before it. People needing to test or do there 2nd race where in this one still a good race tho.

    few snaps -

Passenger ride didnt go well with this woman (note the sick)

Dont we know this chap :fish:

We went up to Wippermann and spotted Maximum Taylor and Simon mulley up there and the heavens opened for a bit but soon dried out!

Got these on my phone -

Once the race ended the weather turned and Matty decided its time to head back to clog land. We went back to Burgstube to freshen up and then as TF was opening we watched everyone go out we went off to get the swift we booked from dale. We got there and i got a massive shock it was a combined track of the GP circuit and the ring :veryhappy: I was over the moon so off to track we went and out we went. First lap just pottered round to get used to the car and track again. It was quite busy but i just pulled out the way making sure i didnt get in peoples way. I finally did the Karrussell aswell as ive never done it before :D  I was going to come in and let Kelly do a lap but due to traffic, her never driving a LHD car and also the ring we decided for me to get one more lap in before it closed for the night.

Second lap i was quicker but still nervous. The first third of the track i find a bit daunting for some reason but the rest im fine with, maybe im relaxed by then god knows but im still very un experienced on the ring compared to everyone on here but i learn well. Coming up to Metzgesfeld I spotted yellow lights and the Ring Zafira with its lights on, i wasnt sure if to stay behind it or what due to the yellow lights on track and what he had on. I stayed behind it untill other cars went past (you will see in the video later) Ive never been in that situation before so thought play safe. :shame:

Later on I was about to go into the Karrussell again but a biker decided he wouldnt be polite and went under me if i hadnt spotted him and aborted my entrance there would of been a nasty accident in deed  Near the end of the lap a spanish BMW went off and bent the front end but that was the only accident i spotted on track. When we finished the lap we where in a que for over 20minutes to get off the track as it was silly busy! We returned the car to Dale and thanked him then took Kelly for a PK Steak as she wanted to try one

i took Kelly to PK as i had already promised her top steak. :veryhappy:

She caught the sun that day and was burnt

Back to burgstube we went for a few beers with Mike and his American buddies had a really good night but we retired to bed as we where shattered.

Sunday came and we went for breakfast followed by Toledo Tours as the track was open all day the place was bloody mental. We got to track side early with Mike and his friend Adam as they had already been out but Adam had a small incident on his bike so that was now in bits :( He was ok tho part from a saw hand. Hour - Hour and a half later the track opened and off we went. I was utterly shocked at how that Seat holds the road and how Mike throws it around. Hit the kerbs at wipperman and i nearly shat myself to Kellys amusement who loved it and told me to MTFU :shame:

We got back and id clocked it as a 10:02 lap ;) i was impressed as the track was mad. We went back to burgstube where me and Kel went off to see Sonja in town and then to see the new Ringworks. All i can say is what a load of shit the ringworks is :rolf: it was pathetic and totally disappointed now.

Kel enjoyed a few of the things to do there tho

Spotted chap i knows sticker is still on a car aswell

Walked up the castle and admired the views

On route walking to the castle -

    Gp Track

Then We went for a tea at Piccolinos for pizza.

    Again Kelly was impressed

Back to Burgstube for one last thing

    Milley didnt want to know

then off we went as we had a early start the next morning as we decided we would do leg 2 of our trip in France.

Monday morning came, it was wet, horrible and bloody horrible. We had breakfast and loaded up the car saying bye to everyone we could (Mike was in bed still) and we headed to the track as i had my lap card on me and it was dead due to the wetness the Vectra did a steady lap of the ring  really good fun and shocked a 300zx up the hill going to the Karrussell  he couldnt catch me but i knew he would be faster in the end so pulled over for him to pass. Finished the lap and went to the petrol station to put 20 euro of diesel in to fill the tank again as hadnt use much around track and running about.

On route out of town i had to get a shot of the sign with car --

We set the sat nav for Spa to visit on the way through where a Ducatti bike day was taking place we didnt stay long as the weather was turning bad and the road works put us behind time. We arrived in Caen about 8/9pm at our destined hotel but we used there wifi to book somewhere up near Arromanches les Bains as the one we had booked had communal showers and toilets and was a utter shit tip, along with gypsys outside the gate. Never ever had a issue with Formula 1 hotels before or this set up but now writing a strong letter with pictures to see if we can get any money back! (turns out the hotel we booked hotel-rosiere-arromanches was a better location and stunning :D )

Here ends the Germany Leg (ill stop boring you all now) but ill do the French leg in the week. Lap videos will be up later this week aswell where i hit not one apex

    Thanks

    Kev

Great report Kev. There's more to a trip to the Ring than thrashing a car around (so I hear!!).

I have to say, that surname isn't very common, so seeing it combined with that initial is a good indicator. However, when I last saw it, it was on one of last year's 24r race cars and had a stars'n'stripes flag next to it
