    2.8 Mb. and dead chuffed!

Fibre is out at the moment, so got BT to put in ADSL over copper AS WELL as leaving the fibre in place for when they connect the 2 bits of string together.

I told them where it had broken, but it took them a week to agree with this. It then took them 2 weeks to work out how to send an engineer out to 'review the situation', let alone start to fix it.

Looking forward to getting 38mb back! Option to get 300mb, but what the hell could I do with that!
    Cheers

    We're with Talk Talk atm.

    Terrible.

One minute we get 20mb. The next 1.8mb. Then disconnected.

    Only 11 up with FTTP?

We are 65 down, 19 up on Infinity at home

Work is good - 10Gbit/s up and down, so it's just a case of how quickly the other side can chuck it out

I find the same usually, it is the speed at the other end that matters. I do a lot of on-line presentations, Go To Meeting type stuff and I often have to wait for the other end to catch up. Not going to go to 300MB just so that I can get to the point where I wait for the other end faster, if you see what I mean.

We used to run a 140 agent Call Centre Voip and data over a 2mb pipe to Mauritius. Like you said, how times change!

At work, connection shared with about 20 other people in the office

BT have increased my line speed. They didn't wait to be asked, and they haven't requested me to pay them more. Very curious, but appreciated.

To be honest, my usage patterns haven't changed since I was on 3Mb/s. It just takes a lot less time to upload my massive Flickr albums.

Just tried this again, can't remember last time I did it, this is over the wifi so might be quicker if I plugged directly into the router.

Our crap internet has never improved so Iíve just bought satellite broadband.
First impressions are good - 50Mb download and 20Mb upload which will be plenty.
Better than the sub 10Mb and intermittent that it used to be, but not as good as my office which peaks at nearly 800Mb when all the students go home for the summer

I have 100mb at home but just recently itís started doing something very odd. It works fine initially but after a few seconds it doesnít upload anything.

I thought at first it was my iPhone and just started using my 4G instead, but itís also affecting my iPad and MacBook.

Iím wondering if this is a sign of an aging router perhaps? Anybody got any ideas??

Have you tried the old turn off & back on again to reset the router? Otherwise speed test it & possible help line call as they can run diagnostics.

Ours did seem to slow from time to time, evenings especially but has been much better since BT sent us the latest router.

Now stable around 60-70 down & 20 up which is enough for all the household to jump on

If you canít upload anything then nothing would work. You need to be able to upload to download

Get in touch with your provider and they can do some line tests

When I first got TalkTalk in 2014 the download speed was 60Mb

Last year the speed was down to 40Mb, and then when it reached 20Mb despite several calls to their helpdesk, it was time to change

So now I'm on Virgin Fibre and the download speed is about 110Mb

Doesn't seem like a massive improvement after five years
