    I started myfitnesspal this morning.

While I know it works, I know that Iíll be short of fun / yummy sweet food now.

Iíve had no beer since NYE which has helped limit the weight gain.

Myfitnesspal is great for tracking how well you are / are not doing.

Down to 99kg this morning, 6.35 kg down in the past month.

    Absolutely. It helps motivate.

Itís how I dropped 2.5 stone last year, including the exercise.

I started exercising to be able to eat more

Iím trying to drink lots more water.

    At least 3L per day.

It helps me feel better, my stomach works better and I feel more full - therefore appetite to eat is satisfied unless properly hungry.

    Highly recommended, water!

    110kg on 29th Dec.

Weigh myself each Monday morning religiously.

    103kg last week.

Work life makes a normal diet/ exercise regime pretty challenging, add a 9 month old into the mix and itís gets even more complicated.

My target is 100kg (the same as 2012) Back then I went from 112 to 95 but Iím farked if Iím going to go in the divorce diet again....

Itís annoying how much easier it is to add 3kg than lose it.

  10. #410
Having been a fat knacker for a fair amount of time and not really caring about it, I decided to have a crack at sorting it out.

I don't have a target. I haven't really given much up. Just trying to eat smaller portions, less rubbish food and to walk more.

I start about 6 weeks ago at 96.9kg and yesterday I was 91.9. So a loss of 11 pounds to date. The last time I broke 90kgs was when I had Pneumonia and it almost killed me, so that's my target I think. Under 90, not dying

I did however eat a rack of ribs and chips last night, so it's fair to say I'm not going mad...... Oh and I'm bloody starving

Good effort, Gary. Drink more water like Dave says & it helps somewhat to put off the hunger. My biggest issue atm are the Easter eggs around the house. Iím fine until they are opened & then itís fair game . Matt suffered a loss last night, he wasnít best pleased

Easter eggs being around the house was quickly resolved. By me.

    So Iím hovering around 100kg.

Want to get back to 93kg ultimately.

Have started back on the rower properly over the last week.

Itís the eating that gets me.....exercise but Iím generally okay with.

Going to Ireland didn't help, even though I tried to be careful I still put some back on. However I'm not at 90.9kg. that is equating to a size large rather than an XL which is nice. I'd like to shift a bit more then to maintain it, which I think will be the tricky bit

Down to 90.3 from 96.9. Not really doing much to make it happen, just been careful not to eat rubbish and reduce portion size. Pleased with progress.

I'm still hovering around 90kg, mostly within 1kg either way.

Another milestone for me today. I broke 90kg for the first time in goodness knows how long. 89.5kg and counting. Really pleased with how cutting out the rubbish I used to eat, smaller portions and a twenty minute walk around the lakes every night has delivered this. Mostly I'm pleased I've not had to do any strenuous exercise, which I'm allergic to

Things are still progressing although they have slowed down a bit. This morning I weighed in at 87.8kg. That's 20 pounds lost in a few months, doing nothing more than an evening walk for 20 mins, not eating rubbish and cutting down on spuds, bread etc. The plan is to keep going a bit more, then desperately try to maintain it, as I feel much better for it.

The problem is none of my clothes fit anymore

Still progressing. Weighed in at 84.8kg this morning. Feeling much, much better about things and loads fitter than I was. Four weeks until Florida, which was my initial target for losing weight. Just a little more to get off and it will be 2 stone lost. I'll be quite happy with that

So the Ďyou canít exercise away a bad dietí is true.

Been doing 30 mins row every other day pretty much for last 3 weeks. Also been eating a fair bit, including unhealthy stuff.

Weight gain has only mitigated significant weight gain.

SO - I need to continue the exercise but fix the diet.

  27. #427
Down to 84.0kg this morning, meaning I have now lost 2 stone !!!

The NHS website still says I'm fat though

Great work Gary. Goes to show that slow and steady seems to work the best, rather than going hardcore on it and getting sick of following a plan.

Reading back through this thread makes me laugh

Turns out it took me until July to get back into it, during which time I found my way back to 17 stone and now back under 16 again and finally re-focused for the push to get below 15 stone this summer.

My weight has always been up and down, and it seems so dependent on mind set for me and what's going on around me.

Currently focused though, so going to keep going and see how I feel when I dip below 15 stone

Ok so I'm there or there abouts. I started at 96.9kg and I'm down to 82.8kg. that's a loss of 31 pounds. I started around 5 months ago with the goal of getting ready for my holiday and being under 90kg. I've kind of exceeded that a bit

How have I done it? I'm not 100% sure I went cold turkey on crisps, cake, sweets and ice cream. Other than that I've generally cut back on the portions I eat and cut right back on spuds, rice and pasta. Lunches at work and evening meals now consist of plenty of meat with either veg or salad.... and often a sauce of some kind.

From a drink perspective I don't think I've changed. I'm still drinking too much pepsi Max and at the weekend the odd whisky or six.

Exercise wise in walking daily. Not too far, but trying to do a good twenty minutes every evening and the occasional walk to work too

From a clothes perspective it's a bloody nightmare. Nothing fits any more. I've gone from an XL tee shirt to a medium and bought and rebought my holiday clothes twice. We go a week Monday, so I hope I'm safe now.

Both Emma and I have lost a chunk and feel so much better for it.

One strange out come is that a huge part of going to Florida was based around the great food on offer in huge excess now I can think of nothing worse. Maybe it will save me a free quid.

It will be interesting to see what I weigh when we get back and if I immediately give up and go back to being a fat knacker. I hope not.

Gary, that's exemplary, has off to you!

I've always considered myself lucky that I don't balloon at the sight of a jaffa cake, but I know how hard it is for those with a slower natural metabolism or other challenges.

You might want to try some regular outdoorsy cardio stuff beyond the walking/rambling. Everyone is different, but either swimming, running or cycling for an hour, twice a week, is not hard to make time to do, and keeps everything in a good zone without the need to be an athlete.

I started running again at the start of the summer and lost half a stone quite quickly, as in over a month/6 weeks kind of period. Was feeling pretty good. Then we went on holiday for 10 days and, despite doing a LOT of walking, I manage to put it all back on, and more... in 10 days!!!

Need to sort myself out once the kids go back to school (2 weeks and counting)

That's exactly the bit I don't want to do Going out for an evening stroll is nice, going for a run, bike ride or swim sounds remarkably like proper excercise and my idea of hell
