Arrived Friday night with a mate Hamish. Picked up hire car. drove to house. slept. got up next morning, had breakfast from the bakery, picked up car from Tom, with nice new exhaust backbox (hurrah!), track opened late, got a few laps in, rained heavily, got some more quiet laps in, couldn't work out why rear tyres had no grip, later on realised still had drifting cheapo tyres on rear :shame:

Just before track closed noticed engine getting very hot, called it a day. Checked with garage in the morning, the cylinder head gasket is on its way out. Car was still OK to drive just had to keep an eye on the temp. Drove all afternoon once it eventually opened, then headed off back to airport in the evening - on route to Hahn we stumbled on some kind of bike event, the road over the river was closed, the detour would have been via Koblenz i think! Spoke to a Policeman, he took pity on us and told me to follow him whilst his mate stayed behind to stop traffic, so we got an flashing lights escort across the bridge

Caught plane just in time :thumb:

Decided to dedicate the weekend to Davetouring, one day I will be as good as you!!!

:( . Not good news. Mind. It has had a hard life. I was told if ever I need one that a 2nd hand unit would be around 1700 or so. Got to be better than the thousands that BMW will want for a new one?

still under warrranty I hope mr gill? if so just throw it back at BMW and it will be sorted

these engines are guaranteed for a lot longer and harder lives so they will sort it out.

the wonder of expensive cars and warranties :thumb:
