The Wife bought me (with some help from tesco vouchers) a "Drive a 997 Turbo" day at Croft for christmas.

The day involved;

Taken round in Mazda 3 MPS by instructer
6 laps in Porsche Caymen
6 laps in 997 Turbo
6 laps in Ginetta G20

Set off at 8.30 to get there for 10.50 start.

Me badged up after having what was probably the worst track briefing that looked like it had drained the life out of everyone in the room

Took some photos of some of the tasty cars in the pit lane. This sounded awesome! Some Guy did spin it on to the grass later :o

And this looked like fun

Went out in the Caymen. Really nice engine and chassis, but wasn't really allowed to push it :( It was quite wet though

The instructer in the Caymen does some classic road rallying. How cute is this :o

Then it was out in the 997 Turbo. They wouldn't let you do more than 5000 rpm, but you didn't need to as it went like stink

The instructer in the Turbo was sound. Really got to fly round in it, and passed pretty much everything out there, including the Lambo. What an everyday tool this car would make. So comfy, quiet but deadly rapid. It did look exactly the same inside as the 35k Caymen though apart from different material on the steering wheel.

Then it was straight into the Ginetta. 130bhp zetec engine, track day tyres, and nothing to stop you from getting wet

This was ace fun as the arse end kept coming out and it was a doddle to hang out. There was virtually no grip, probably too cold for the tyres due to me not pushing hard enough  The instructer was well nervous to start off with, but after the first two laps we got chatting over the intercom and he was cool B)

Then it was off to Bedale for a spot of lunch and a pint of Theakstons Old Peculiar from one of the only pubs still getting it in wooden casks. My god it's like velvit :(

Didn't take any photos in the pub as the bar made was quite fit, and I didn't want to look like a twat

There does seem to be a huge difference between these courses, some encourage you to rev them, others seems much more nervous and ask you to keep them down.

So long as you enjoyed it :thumb:

no photos of barmaid, come on man, you are slipping !

I didn't know you were off to Croft, or did I?

I see a 997 turbo every morning on the way up to Owler bar like his arse is on fire, they really are rapid road cars - glad you had fun! :thumb:

Looks a good day, funny how some like to you to push the car and others dont...but still looks great fun!
