Bull sh.it Dude, theres no way you could lap the car park in 7,45 counting the two times you'd have to stop and refil the coolant, plus the time It would take to persuade the marshall its actually road legal, I've been for the last three years now on and off, and I cant get better than 8,50, including a p.iss break in the smelly toilets

I have got the data logger info, which I will post. Also a picture of myself as I started and finished the lap holding a clock which corresponds with the times shown on the data logger.

So............

Finished work on Friday afternoon. Got home and thought about getting ready for when I'd get picked up for the 4am ferry.

Russ turned up in his S2000 at 11pm, packed and ready to roll. We left at 1am for Dover, stopping for a coffee at Maidstone services.

Got to Dover in good time, but Theo's passenger forgot his passport so they had to turn round after getting half way there! :jerk:

Got into VIP and had some food & coffees, and a short kip!

We headed across France, Belguim etc. Got into Germany, and Theo had a slight incident with a red light, a new 3 series and his radiator. His car ended up staying there until he could find a radiator on Monday. The crank pulley had 'drilled' through the rad. The locals helped immesely, I can't explain how helpful and friendly ze Germans were. Great people. I spoke a little bit of German to this old guy, and his whole family then proceeded to help us search for an E28 radiator! :thumb: :thumb: . One guy even drove me to two different places up the road in search, at garages which were closed, but opened because he knew the owners. What a hero, on a lovely Saturday afternoon. Anyway, I digress.

Arrived at the 'Ring, me, Russ (in the S2k) and Alan in the Scoob WRX were staying at the Blaue Ecke in Adenau. Darren had booked us the room the previous month (thanks bud :butt: )

Theo and John booked into Gästehaus Veronika near Nürburg, it had a sauna.

Andy booked up last minute and was staying in a hotel in Mayen. All this made it quite difficult to get Theo and John around without car!

Anyway, back at the Blaue Ecke, we checked in with Mickaela (who we now love) and had a bit of a kip, after the long, and fairly eventful drive.

Woke up, and all met up at Pinnochios for some din dins. Ian Howell plus Graham came and met us briefly.

Next day, headed up to the track about 10am.

It was mentally busy, we headed out. I was trying to direct Russ around, whilst Alan followed. I had mentioned a few things to the boys (their first trip) about traffic/if you have to stop. Nothing could prepare them for an M25 style 'Ring. I was constanly having to say, indicate and pull over to the right, which became a bit annoying!

At the end of the lap, Russ had loved it, so we headed out for another!

Went well, and Russ was getting used to letting people past/overtaking.

There were numerous accidents, and poor driving over the weekend. Lots of German cars keeping to the left, which confuses me! Surely they'd at least drive how they would on the roads!?

Towards the end of the day, half way round a lap, and we heard a squealing/scraping noise from the o/s/r. Took the wheel off in the overflow car park and couldn't see enough without tools. After some deliberation, we decided the pads were nearly dead, and it was the wear scrapers (that's the technical term) were touching. Honda had told Russ that they'd be fine for a trip to the 'Ring.

Ended the day mainly on a high (except Theo  ;) ) and headed down to the PK to meet up with Ian H, Jim_C, Bad Dragon, etc. Bit of food and banter!

Told Mickaela about the problem, and asked if there was a local Honda garage. She took the car details and called a couple of garages first thing, then reported to us in the morning. (Another reason why we love her!) We needed to head to Neuwied, about 35 miles away by 11am. We arrived at 10:20, and they took some details from us and had the car up in the air to get the pads changed. The service advisor girl made us a coffee, and complimented me on the fact I spoke a bit of German! :affection: They had the car ready, and at 138Euros, it was 12Euros cheaper than the original quote. Russ and I love this girl. :affection:

We then headed back to the 'Ring, in order to do a couple more laps. Did a couple more laps, and then headed to get some food in Adenau. Popped to the Sports Bar after to get a drink and check the net. :ph43r:

We then headed up by the Adenau -> Hohe Acht road to the 'Ring. Andy came together with a bike between a couple of the hairpins. We didn't see it, but with the roof down in the S2k we heard a loud 'crack'. I thought it was someone cutting down a tree. Came round the corner to see the BMW pulled over, and Andy running over to the biker, Russ stopped and I jumped out and ran over to the guy who was laying on the floor. He was talking, but clearly in a bit of pain. It looked like he'd broken his leg, he was trying to move around and I tried to pursuade him to stay still. Some guys in another car had called an ambulance, which I found out after trying myself only to discover I had no signal  .
I stayed with the biker until the ambulance arrived, trying to keep him calm, he was breathing ok and still trying to move about. He was talking and called his wife. A few minutes later, the ambulance arrived and took him away. His wife turned up and was worried until she saw he was ok, but with a slightly out of shape leg. (been there :( ) I was half way between crying and being sick... :shark: Poor guy, I hope he is ok, I think he 'just' had a broken leg, which was a lucky escape, I think. I'd be interested to know if I can find out any more about how he is.

Anyway. Feeling very odd, we headed to the 'Ring car park. Met with Ian again, and Russ let me take his car out  we did a lap with Ian in the Golf, and us in front, I was enjoying the go in the S2k, but taking it fairly easy after the events which had happened a hour or so earlier. We saw the yellow lights flashing at Metzgefeld, and slowed down. We stayed going 30/40mph until the left/right after Kallenhard, at which point we gestured to say 'Who knows (why the lights were on)' and carried on. We then rounded MHM to find lots of stopped cars at Wehrseifen. A female biker was laid on the floor, reports later suggest she had a broken leg. (Any ideas?) I believe she was helicoptered away.

I moved over to let Ian lead up the back hill after Bergwerk, and finished the lap, which was good fun!

That night, we ate at the Chinese and Frankie gave me a 'Bitte ein Bit' sticker. :thumb:

We got a fairly early night, and left for the ferry at 8am. A decent run to the ferry, and got there fine. The M25 was closed meaning the 2 hour drive took 6 hours. Cheers England.

A very odd weekend. I was glad the newbies had a good time. :thumb:

Well finally got round to registering!

Absolutely awesome weekend, if I could afford to do it every week, I would!

Quite a daunting experience as a first timer, especially with the amount of traffic (I was expecting to see maybe 2 / 3 cars per lap!) but it got better on the Monday.

Big thanks to Dave for his excellent tutoring skills ("If you do that again Russ, I'll f*****g kill you") and to Ian for showing me the lines. Maybe I'm slow, but that A class could certainly hustle! Til you got to an uphill part anyway!

I've got 4 laps left on a ticket becuase of the closure, so looks like I HAVE to go back before the end of the year! :D
