At the ring in the Peugeot 306 Rallye, starting to get some good laps under my belt.... when the engine blew up. Nice line of oil up to Galgenkopf. Steve W stopped behind me (thanks mate) and we started flagging for ages. One bill for sand and sweeping later (230 Euros thanks very much!) and a transported car off to ADAC Central. Just waiting for the recovery people back home to phone me back to tell me about getting me home.

Such is life  :(

Bad news Mark. At least you were able to flag in time to stop anyone going off on your oil which would have make things far more complicated...

very true - keep telling myself that to cheer myself up about it

We were very lucky. I could smell the oil before WarrenM realised what had actually happened. Off line fortunately but a lot of oil.

99% of drivers were great but 1% were complete knobh**ds & did not slow down or went through the oil so they could spread it through to the racing line.

I found myself shouting at some drivers as I waved the yellow flag. W*****s.

Firstly bad luck Mark :( I have a pug and that died very quickly too. It wasn't even on track

Secondly, those knobjockeys who refuse to slow may not know what a yellow flag means. Probably because they are max power newbies or just (Oops I said the F word)wits.

european breakdown recovery insurance - I've learnt my lesson before!

They're getting the car home and flying me and the wife back to Stanstead to then pick up a hire car

Suprised they are recovering it for you. It must have been marginal whether it was worth their while to take it home or to a local dealer for you to get it repaired......

Who are you with, Mark? Most European recovery co's do not recover cars back to the UK if the value is considered less than 5K.

Car to follow in a few days? I take it that you will get it fixed and be back?

Part of the deal with the ins company is that I get it fixed within 4 weeks. Expecting the car back within 14 working days

Why do they care when it gets fixed?
