Ring time again. 3 cars this year, NSX V2220 and audi a4 AVANT TDI. The audi boys had to work late on thursdau so could not make the ferry time at hull. They were to set off early friday morning to make the tunnel at 7.30 and meet us at the guesthouse around the same time on friday lunchtime.

Literally last minute on the tursday for me, swapped the discs, pads and fluid for better items just in case, last thing i need in a new car at the ring is fade!
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/DTMDC5K20/21062007439.jpg

Usual antics on the ferry- watch the crap bands or show thats on and get an early night, fresh up and on it to the ring next day on a buzz.

Just off the ferry, always good seeing other cars and bikes and getting the nod as your all going the same place
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/DTMDC5K20/DSCF0050.jpg

after the usual motorway blatt. scott always keeps good chase if i gun it for a bit :D so perhaps good job job autohabit wasnt on this trip as we would be waiting for him
http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/DTMDC5K20/DSCF0053.jpg

We arrive and its wet  I know how bad it is from previous experience but sometimes u just cant resist. I did 2 dry laps and was going steady as still learning the NSX and its fruits. 3RD LAP.............

WET- im thinking ok go steady no harsh steering, no heavy throttle, u know the track u know its bad so go easy and u ill be fine.... :shark:

Exiting Hatzenbach i ease the throttle ( i think) and she snaps out. Downhill bend full of grease in mid-engined 280bhp car- with unexperianced FWD DTM at the helm..

I caught her once, caught her again, and agin but the pendulum effect of that big arse got the better of me, i saw the kurb, saw the grass and thought shit the barrier..WHACK. we hit and bounce back onto the track.. lots of noise and crunching and i fear the worst.. the arch liner is catching so i push it free and check the damage. not as bad as i thought so jump back in the car and pull of at briedschied to be pulled by marshalls... :( :(

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b99/DTMDC5K20/22062007444.jpg

they take me round and i play dumb but i give in and show them were..900 english pounds they want for repairing THAT! what a joke. I leave it for a few days as best i could but in the end gave in and paid in the main office

Saturday was again-wetdrywetdrywetdrywetdry

everytime i went to lap it rained so i avoided like the plague.took the guys to the museum where i did my usual fondelling of the statues..

managed to stay on track all day  and was on till the very end and the track was closed when i came off. still had two laps but forgot it was closed monday morning and i was off at lunch to get the ferry

so did some snooping about near manthey racing as never been on those estates, went to bike village thing too which was ok for a nose about. saw the GT3 which had crashed at schwedenkreuz on the sunday..

Visitied various parts of the track, some i have never been to before as not enough time. took some pictures at brunchenn and on the road leading to the car park as the view is excellent. :thumb:

Hi Dan, shame about the damage, but on the bright side it could have been so much worse. Sounds like you still managed to enjoy the rest of the weekend anyway.

Here's a pic from early on friday afternoon when I parked my Lotus next to the X

good to meet you dan.

sorry about the damage, but glad its just cosmetic, and the ford guy did a great job making it almost invisible - and it sounds like you still managed to have a good time -especially on sunday.

Take care, hope to see you out here again soon.

cheers

Andy

No wonder he had a smile on his face - I recognise the tube on the floor, anal lube and for good measure he's got a tube of Savlon on the table for those pesky rips  :hehegay:

Ouch on the armco bill, such a shame the NSX got spanked :(

Good to meet you Dan, shame about the damage :( No way of avoiding the armco police though, its better (and cheaper) to wait for the marshalls - when I drove off at Breidscheid (after having finished with the marshalls) I was stopped and produced my receipt to prove I hadn't just driven off.

You should come along to a drift day, sounds like you had/have the same problem as me, tankslapping. :D

See you at the next one. Does Ibiza have a track?

Nice report Dan, and what do you mean - good job autohabit wasn't with us or wouldn't have kept up ;)

Could have been a lot worse with the damage, at least you were able to keep lapping, I'm sure many people reading this can tell you much worse stories, hope you are making progress with sourcing second hand parts, can't be easy as so few NSX's in Europe, never mind in the UK!

Hope it dryer at end of July

You got off light there.

I had a moment in an NSX once. I managed to put it through the wall of a fireworks factory and then smash it into a parked Transit. Honda still hasn't forgiven me.
