After the last outing at Wittering nothing has been changed on the car expect new front pads and we added some camber.

Due to it being Remembrance Sunday the day ran differently to a normal trackday, the day followed the plan below.

Everything stopped for 11am. There was also a local service at Blyton mid afternoon. :thumb:

This was no issue, after observing the silences, you could go for lunch whenever you wanted.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/ScreenShot076.jpg

Due to driving across early morning we caught the sun rise.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/matt328/Blyton%20111112/1-1.jpg

Arriving at Blyton the car was unloaded and we attended the briefing and did all the usual trackday things.

The car was running great and there were no major issues other than an extremely long brake pedal.

Stan was also attending in the mighty Nova

As were a collection of ClubGTi'ers.

Some people who attended decided brakes weren't that important and that changing them was a job for once they got home
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/matt328/Blyton%20111112/34.jpg

I also allowed my dad to show me how to do it correctly.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/matt328/Blyton%20111112/39.jpg

Also we spotted that Floyd's colour scheme on imprezas is catching on...

Overall it was a thoroughly enjoyable day. The 328 behaved perfectly. Now the fun of stripping can commence. :thumb:

Good stuff Matty
Wonder what was going through Ma and Pa's mind when their little boy and their little girl were hooning around a race track at 100mph!

Weird. Very weird indeed.

As I was pointing out a few stuff to Matt, he mentioned he hadn`t driven the car since Wittering. The fact he doesn`t drive on the roads means normal things like judging car widths and getting used to doing things without thinking aren`t as natural to him yet. Takes a few sessions for him to get used to driving, then he`s fine :thumb:

Roman numeral notation for the average amount of apexes he missed per lap.

Good work :thumb:

Did Bones pop the windscreen out of his Jetta as a weight-saving initiative, or did Autoglass only turn up to fit his screen later in the day?

He's got the pace, it just needs refining and his youthful exuberance reeling in. Following that he'll be whooping a good few of us

Plus it has oriental ditch finder tyres and the handling of the Exxon Valdez, I think I actually asked him if he had the RNLI on speed dial

Stolen from ClubGTI

It was certainly a first for me driving a Jetta with no glass............. my co-driver Rob managed to collect a water barrier and smash the windscreen. The only way we could continue was to remove the damaged screen, wind down the windows, and also remove the rear screen.

Whow! Stop insulting my Fortuna and Autoguard tyres!

Quick video from the outside showing the amount of squeal they gave.

Judging by the videos, you're not shy at the wheel.

Huh, tell me about it.

Comparing the datalogs with the Golf, it is as quick on acceleration as mine. Thats with all interior trim and 2.9 Final drive. ! I won`t be able to live with him on a straight once it is stripped and has a lower FD fitted...

Floyd
13-11-2012, 06:42 AM
Give him the Golf and take the 328 then!

...or was that the plan from the start :chin::whistle::lol:

JamesW

Its all falling into place now

Seriously though, I should have bought a 328. The Scorpion exhaust on full chat sounds fantastic. As a side note Nige/Matty, replacing that cone filter with a standard de-baffled airbox will gain you some mid-range torque, it just works better.

Some of us realise to go fast on track you need to be quick in the corners, not just on the straights...

Stu, With Blyton being Anticlockwise it makes loads of sense for overtakes to be on the right :thumb:

Blyton is an anti-clockwise circuit. It's overtake on the right, as opposed to the vast majority of circuits which are overtake on the left.
Mind you, Blyton is pretty narrow, and overtake by "obvious consent" is strongly advised!
