The Ring.

11-13th November.

Nurburg castle pokes up through the gloom:

Zoom out and the cruel localisation of the fog becomes more apparent:

That didn't stop the track from opening.

I had a very similar experience back in 2007. Love the in car shots!

My first ever lap in 1993 was like that, and I was on a bike. I remembered none of it, not even the Karussell. Can't really say I enjoyed it.

Not sure it's such a bad thing - you'd never get enough speed up to do any damage

Had a similar experience with my parents who came out to see when I did a ski season in the Alps - they hadn't skied for fifteen years and the first day was almost a whiteout. Had a good day nonetheless but when I took them down the same runs the next day I had a "feck that I not going down there" response on a couple of occasions!

Great photos. Did you take those stills from the gopro video or are they photos?:thumb:

They're stills from a video. The camera is a ContourHD which was attached to my helmet.

I'm not so sure. Have you seen how some people drive in fog?

Not many photographers out there in the fog, unsurprisingly, so thanks to Yoeri for making the effort.

Nice pics Si. It was a great weekend in spite of the tricky weather conditions. :thumb:

It's a shame I didn't get to have a proper look at that McLaren. The only glimpse of it I got was in my mirror, when he peeled off the track into the carpark just as I was going through the barrier. If only he'd done one more lap...

I got overtaken... not really interesting other than for me to see my car in motion from the outside. I come into view at around 8:30:
