I was really looking forward to going to the Autodrome today. I had been thinking about it for literally hours.

So, off I went. Upon arrival, I went straight into the main reception, where they have some interesting decor:

I spoke to the receptionist, who disappeared off into the back office and returned with the item I came for:

With Jim's camera battery and charger in my sweaty palms, I jumped back in my car and went home.

Awesome. Were you in the Micra?

This adventure took place in the Astra estate, as I had to drop off a kitchen table in Turvey. From there it's all twisty bumpy backroads to Thurleigh. Great fun. The Astra was a bit rubbish in the corners and the brakes faded a bit, but it had plenty of suspension travel to.deal with the bumps and yumps.

Best trip report I've read for quite some time.

I'd quite like to have a wander round there even if I'm not able to get on track. The hangar with the rows of F2 cars is very cool, for example. Was tempted to have a peek in there, but I had to get back home to take the family shopping.

If you had taken the Micra you would been shown into the pits with people expecting some quick laps. Major fail taking the Astra :to be added:

Here you go.

When on earth did they get these awful things? Imagine the embarrassment of doing your ARDS in one of these...

Save money on an aging fleet of 996s? Wrap them to look like a 997. Most of the punters will never know...

Lots of these

Had a wander in the big hanger, reminds me of helicopter hangers. Full of painted floors and lovely stuff, immaculately arranged.

Anyone remember the supercharged XKs? They were selling them off in a job lot... I think last year. I was up North in Skipton doing a Porsche thing the other day (the car in the pic won Tour Brittania) and look what's in the background...

Mmmm, I think they're lovely...
gallic styling, dynamics and ergonomics at their very best. :thumb:

Great report Neil, though perhaps a bit too wordy for my taste. :thumb:

Cheers for the insight, Jim. I think there was a corporate event going on, as there were a variety of cars circulating, from Clios to single-seaters, with caterhams on the skid/drift area.

I've been to a few trackdays there, but it was interesting to see the other side of the business. Might wander back sometime for a nosey...
