Shortest trackday ever for me

Coil pack multiplug fail meant that my fun ended 20 minutes in. Nothing I could do to fix it in the paddock so had to pack up and go home. Car is already unloaded and in my garage. Feckin shit Ford!

I knew I should have taken the RS250.

Meh!!

Boo

I carry a spare coilpack for that reason. Simon had the same issue several times last year. Damn annoying.

Black Fiesta XR2i

I was set up next to the blue escort, for all of an hour

Nige - It wasn't the coil pack, it's the multi plug on the loom. I need to change it which involves soldering plus I didn't have the replacement with me anyway, it was on the door mat when I got home

I should have chinned it off at 9am when it cut out loading onto the trailer. A quick wiggle and it started ok so I took a risk. I should have taken the Megane.

If there's any doubt it's got issues before Oulton, I'll be there in the Megane. I'm not wasting a 600 mile round trip let alone a trackday.

Tough luck mate. I do like knockhill but its a long weekendstrip for me with the misses and daughter. Ends up costing about 400 quid all in. I do find the locals are quite "comitted" on track though. Was a bit scary the first time out.

Fortunately for me, it's only an hour (45 mins in a car). There is some seriously quick stuff up there and like you say, they are all committed. I've been twice and I've not had either a dry track or a full session yet :(

The fiesta is fixed now. Took me all of 30 mins last night to change the multi plug. Fired up first time and ran smoothly.

Next decent opportunity is the SIDC day on the 19th March. I say decent because the standard of driving on some of the other dates can be atrocious.

I'm contemplating doing the 19 March. I'll take the Megane if I do.

Early start too, briefing at 8am. 0900 - 1300 tracktime.

took my cavalier turbo up first time and there was a bloke in a mk1 astra v6 on 888's. he was so close through the chicane that if i had braked or let off he would of hit me. all i could see in my mirror was his windscreen, couldn't see the front of the car at all.

next time out was in my m3 and that was brill. had a nice battle with a 2003 civic type r and they were a perfect match. coyuld just start gaining on him by the bridge but never got past him.
