All loaded and ready to go. We`re taking a roofbox this time, full of duvets and pillows, leaves loads more room in the X5 & Golf. We actually have room for more stuff !

The usual amount of photos should follow in due course :D

After lots of traffic and a 7hour journey from Calais, we arrived in Nurburg at 8pm and quickly put the tent up before it started getting dark

Megasquirt broke. Grrrrr. Put K-Jet back on. More info on that later.

Went to the ring, chatted to Northloopers, bought my JK and did 4 laps, it opened late so didn`t have time to do more. I was surprised how quickly it all came back. Car ran well, I was pleased.

Went to Jorgs on Wednesday evening and he prepared a fantastic meal for us. Back to the Bar and it was time for a sing-along. There was also an arm wrestling `competition`. Jorg and I ended up conceding a draw. My arm still aches

At 01:30 we decided it was time to leave after a fabulous evening. Thanks Jorg :thumb:

A Late start Thursday morning.. I felt fine, but we were all just tired.

It was raining and I needed to change the rear wheel bearing on the GOlf. It was fine on the road, but when loaded up on fast corners was making noises. Reversed into the Gazebo to keep clean.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P10107331024x768.jpg

The old bearing was showing signs of wear. New one fitted, test drive and all was well.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P10107361024x768.jpg

Went to Karls to fit his new K-Jet, but there is something weird going on.Can simply won`t rev, at all. Removed inlet manifold and cam cover, checked cam timing and cambelt timing, all spot on. I`m starting to think its spark related, but I`m struggling :(

Did another 6 laps on the ring in the evening, had a VERY close moment with a UK Nova.I thought I was pretty good at ready car "body language" and when the car made a definate move to the right, I pulled alongside, I didn't expect him to then turn into the corner. This was at the entrance to Hatzenback, I took to the inside kerb and had more of the Golf on the grass than on the road. Scary and unexpected.

Back to the campsite for chicken stir fry then beer.

A proper fire :smug: We were joined by Andrew, His friend John & his brother, Tom, his FRIEND Helen and UK Biker who is touring Europe and called in at the ring. I also went and had a talk to some UK Golf owners who are over for the weekend.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010772.jpg

Small kettle being heated in the fire..
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010773.jpg

Called it a night at about half 12, had a really enjoyable evening. This is exactly why we go camping for, good company, fire, beer and time simply flies. :thumb:

Update

Myself (driving) Ian (driveforward) Sparrow, and Andrew Hereward conducted a physic's experiment with a 3 series touring.

Can you exit the Mini K early in a 3 series touring.

Newton said no.

fully sideways, catch, flick back, give up trying to catch, backwards, both feet on brake, back in correct direction, finish 1 foot from armco 30 yards up the road. Breathe sigh of relief

As the cloud of tyre smoke cleared, we realised how close the armco was from our final point of rest and directly in front were a very shocked, white-faced German couple sitting staring at us.

How we didn't connect with anything I don't know, but feck were we lucky!

Sorry again chaps for being a knob, I'm buying a lottery ticket

As you attempted said manoeuvre, did you shout "Watch this!"?

Hi Gary

Not been around much lately. Second daughter born on Christams Day, and quit the day job to concentrate on the new business full time means no time or money for cars. Was given a pass out for the weekend, so made the most of it.

Hope to see you all soon again.

Went and had a chat with the Nova driver, nice bloke, he saw me in his mirrors, then I dissapeared (as I was alongside)... He didn`t think I`d be past him by then...All sorted now anyway.

Back to the Campsite Friday lunchtime and Ian, Jude, Laura and James arrived.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010775.jpg

The campsite was filling nicely for the DTM, but we spread our cars, trailers and chairs all over the pitch to `reserve` it for just us ;) Andrew, Mat and I went to get some wood, took the chainsaw and chopped up a large log, brought it back then cut it
and split it into smaller bits.

Ring opened and I managed to get some nice laps in, even though there was a lot of traffic, I found a few clear laps !

Finished off the night with beers and a campfire. I didn`t sleep particularly well, I kept wondering what was wrong with the ECU. Up at 7am and refitted the K-Jet ready for a days lapping.

Carpark was busy as expected, this car got a lot of admiring views.

Louises friend Claire is staying for a week. She has absolutely no interest in cars, but thought that seeing as she was over, a single lap was required. She was very nervous getting into the car. As we went under the bridge and into the dip, she let out a small scream. Another couple followed furter round the lap :smug: .SHe said she was scared and excited at the first time and really enjoyed it :thumb:

Jorg had one of his busiest nights ever, with 3 seperate sittings and he was exhausted when he finished. Unfortunately, that meant no sing-along.

Sunday morning and I`d set the alarm for 7:30am. Woke at 6 to torrential rain, so turned off the alarm and went back to sleep, as did everyone else. Woke at 10, fitted the wets and did 3 laps. They gave good grip and although soaked, I enjoyed the laps..

It dried out quickly so back to the campsite and switched to Pilot Sport Cups. Weeman arrived and so I took him out for a couple of laps. Needed a `Dab of oppo` going through Flugplatz, I turned in as normal, but they behave differently to Direzzas and initial turn in is sharper, that caused me to just clip the inside kerb, bringing the back out. The tyres don`t squeal and when they do lose grip, its quite sudden, not as progressive as other R tyres I`ve driven on.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010886.jpg

Track closed so we drove down to Jorgs for some lunch.

More to follow later. Still having a fantastic time :veryhappy:

Yes but I don't know what is up with the car?

Nige
12-08-2010, 02:37 PM
/ Saturday Afternoon /

I still wanted to fit the megasquirt, so when the track was closed, I met up with Gurds and we fitted my ECU to his car. It still ran rough. At least I knew it wasn`t my setup. We spent a while checking it over and found a dry joint under some heatsleeving that was causing a lot of the problem. When positioned in a certain way, it was fine, but the way I had it in my car meant the wires were intermittently touching, hence the misfire ! result :thumb:

We then refitted the lid and it misfired again :o

Eventually found that the OTHER coildriver was the problem. They are on a mica insulator and secured by a hole drilled through the case and a small bolt. When I`d assembled it, I had left a tiny bit of swarf between the 2, normally it wouldn`t be a problem, but because I was having issues with the dwell, which was saturating the coilpack, the drivers were getting hot, weakening the insulator and causing a short. Cleaned the swarf out of the way, refitted everything and it ran !

Back to the campsite and once again, removed the K-Jet and fitted Megasquirt. Went and drove it to the carpark, seemed fine !

Did 2 back to back laps and it ran great. Now this is more like it. :thumb:

On my 3rd lap, it started misfiring going up kesselchen, not often, just an occasional blip, so I dropped it into 5th and cruised up. Just after Mutkurve, it died completely.

Phoned for a recovery truck, asked for ADAC, but this week it is Bongards turn
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image000.jpg
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image001.jpg

The driver wanted to drop me off at Bongards in Adenau and charge me, saying I could reclaim the money later. Some discussion later, he dropped me off at the campsite and took my ADAC details instead. It really is worth insisting that you have cover, be pleasant and explain your case, you have nothing to lose, if they had charged me, I could have reclaimed the cost, but its extra hassle.

Back at the campsite and a very quick investigation showed the main Fuse for the ECU / Coilpack had blown (30Amp). Fitted another and it started straight away. However, WHY had it blown ? A bit of work on the laptop changing dwell and I reckon the setting was too high, allowing the coil to be over saturated, heat up and eventually blow the fuse. Dropped the dwell and went for a drive. Seemed fine, so I did another lap of the ring. Slight misfire on the 3rd back to back lap at Minikarussel.

Back in the carpark and I dropped the dwell even more and it has been fine ever since.

A lot of hassle, I knew there would be teething problems, but hopefully its sorted now.

/ Back to Sunday afternoon /
After lunch at the Comfy Corner, I did more laps taking out passengers but the weather was very hit and miss. I was taking Eddie out at pm and the heavens opened just after flugplatz, but Hohe-Acht, it was torrential. The Pilot Sport Cups are OK in the wet, they still have decent tread so displaced the water. Standing water caused aquaplaning, but I was aware of that and drove accordingly.

We called it a day and went to the Burgstube for one of their great Hot-Chocolates. :thumb: Had a good talk with a lot of the

ClubGti guys, one of them had the electric power steerting setup fitted I was considering fitting to the golf, so I took his car for a drive, hmmm, not that impressed. It works, but at the expense of steering feel. Guess I wont be fitting that then... :(

As often happens, the rain stopped just after 7:30...

The modifications to Andrews sticker continued...
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010887.jpg

Sorry for the delay, too busy having fun ;)

/ Monday 9th /

We were awoken by the sounds of a car pulling up outside the tent, heard a Scottish voice and Steph had arrived ! He had told me he would try and get out, but didn`t give any specifics. They had left at 9pm the night before and driven through the night, he was exhausted !
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010904.jpg

Ewan was very keen to show me his kite.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010905.jpg

When packing Steph had realised they would be short of space and he was quite proud of his makeshift roof carrier. :thumb:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010906.jpg

Everyone helped them put the tent up.

Cat kept libby entertained.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010909.jpg

Mat was asked to fill the bucket with warm water, he told us he could carry it on the bike we found last week. About 5 seconds after this photo, just after hitting a tiny bump, the bucket fell off
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010912.jpg

Ewan put up his own tent !
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010916.jpg

He was also very pleased with himself when he built up the wood into a pile.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1010919.jpg

Sam`s 2 week old gearbox had failed. He sourced another from the scrapyard and fitted it at the campsite. Between us we had all the tools necessary. He said the new box was the smoothest he`s had, very lucky !

Golf, running Megasquirt. It was going well :thumb:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3726.jpg

I was going to take a few people out for passenger laps, did 2, came back into the carpark and had a drink. Started the car and it sounded dreadful :(

Jude kindly lent me her towrope and Lou towed me back to the campsite.

Tried turning the engine over with a socket on the crank and when No1 and 4 were at TDC, it was VERY hard to turn. The head would need to come off. Tried not be Mr Grumpy, but I knew it was something major..

Usual beers and fire :thumb:

Next morning, I was up at 07:30 and whipped the cylinder head off. Ah.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3808.jpg

No1 Cylinder has had a foreign object in the combustion chamber. (No3 was a touch lean too..)
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3811.jpg

Hmmm, piston damage too.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3812.jpg

One poorly Golf
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3813.jpg

I know EXACTLY what happened. Builder error i`m afraid :( When fitting the Megasquirt and inlets, I made a backplate to secure the airfilter. This was secured by aluminium brackets to the head to keep it stable. One of the bolts had vibrated loose and was sucked into the engine, where it made a right old mess. Damn and double Damn.

Spoke to Chris Slator to discuss options and Andy Carlisle. THere were spare parts at Brens and his old, knackered engine. I wonder if there are enough parts to fix my Golf ??

Trailered the Golf to Sliders, seemed a much more sensible option to do it there.

Andy had done a spectacular job of destroying the Engine in the Jetta last year. 3 pistons were dead, but one held a faint glimmer of home. Removed it from the engine and yeah, this might actually work !
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3818.jpg

One donor piston
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3821.jpg

Bren had a spare cylinder head he`d sourced last year, but the cams wouldn`t turn when ANdy and I fitted it last year. We removed the cams and followers from my head, fitted them to the donor head and they turned :)
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3824.jpg

Removed the sump from my engine (Hate those bolts at the bellhousing end !), removed the conrod bolts and removed one dead piston.

I See you.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3835.jpg

Fitted my shells to the new piston, no ring compressor, which made installation a bit harder than usual. But here is the piston almost in the block
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3844.jpg

2 Hours later and it runs :veryhappy:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/NLP_3846.jpg

A big thanks to Bren for letting me use his old engine for spares and to Andy who made the job so much easier. There are certain times when 2 hands aren`t enough and having him help made a difficult job easier. Thanks mate. :thumb:

Trailer back to the campsite and had a well earned beer. The acid test is tomorrow when I take it on the ring.... (it ran perfectly and it still doing so, 20 laps later :thumb:)

Hello you all and Nige,

We are so sad we couldnt come. But as we had no contact to you Nige, we did not know if we could have some arrangements for it. Like electricity. So, we had to deside not to come.

You can imagin that I had a very bad weekend.

Greetings from Robert

Before the trip, I told her all the works I`ve done over the last 12 months was to make the Golf reliable and less work required in Germany  I`ve spent a full day on the engine and several hours here and there on the ECU, time I`d rather have spent doing other stuff. :(

If you take the Megasquirt out of the equation, I`ve changed a rear wheel bearing and set of brake pads. ALL the other work is related to the Megasquirt ECU / Install. I knew I`d have teething problems, I only fitted it a couple of weeks before we came out, but overall, the Golf is very reliable for the miles it does, isn`t it ?

A drizzly evening and some slow laps. Met up with Mark (Chilled).
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/110886.jpg

Took Mark out for a steady lap, following Andrew. Andrew & I knew there were photographers at the exit of Pflanzgarten, so he intentionally clutch kicked it to get the back out. Marks initial reaction was "He`s lost it!", followed by, "Ah, he meant to do that didn't he" as Andrew held a lovely drift all the way around the exit :thumb:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/andrew5.jpg

I went out for a lap in the MX5 of win.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/110887.jpg

It was wet.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/110888.jpg

It was Ians last evening, so we had planned to do some laps together, be passengers in each others car and then it rained, so we didn't have chance.

As it was the last night for a few people, we headed back to Pinnochios for some Pizza. Last lap was a 1/2 lap and I came off at Breidscheid, well, seeing as it was open, I have a JK, it would be rude not to ;)

It was quite warm, so we sat in the outside part.

The Pizzas are always very nice :thumb:

We retired to our tent and watch Toy Story 3 :thumb:

/ Thursday 19th /

I wandered down to Karls to try and sort his Golf. After fitting my old ECU and wiring loom, it was still causing problems. Removed the injectors to measure the flow and they seemed fine.

I then started the engine with one injector removed and into a container, no matter how much throttle was applied, the fuelling didn`t increase. Ah, progress !

Eventually, the problem was narrowed down to a canister on the side of the German metering head, it was blocking flow back to the fuel tank and affecting the control pressure. By-passed that and the car ran superbly :thumb:

The cause of much head scratching, now removed.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/LostFile_JPG_3817024.jpg

Had some good laps, then back to the campsite for a BBQ. Steph did an outstanding job cooking the food.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/LostFile_JPG_3835072.jpg

I lit a fire.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/LostFile_JPG_3855552.jpg

Had a call from Andy & Bren. We`d invited them over for a BBQ, but the officious buggers o the gate wouldn`t let them in. I went up and almost begged them to let them in for 3 hours. Promising I`d have them off site by 11:30.

Andy was driving.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/LostFile_JPG_3897728.jpg

Really good to have them pop over for an evening talking around the campfire. Brilliant. :veryhappy:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/LostFile_JPG_3910336.jpg

Unfortunately, when it was time to go, it was decided another `for the road` was a better idea. The next day I got a bollocking from the boss of the campsite, telling me in no uncertain terms that I Had PROMISED they`d be gone by 11:30 :shame: To smooth the waters and hopefully ensure we can do it again, I took them up abottle of wine as way of an apology...

/ Friday 20th /

As my Megasquirt setup was not causing me any more issues, Steph and I decided to fit my old Metering head, inlet manifold and injectors to Brens engine (its a known setup). Arrived at just after 9 and got started.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image000-1.jpg

The Engine was already in place and everything was soon bolted up. We didn`t need to ask each other what to do and the job progressed very smoothly.

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image003.jpg

Mid morning and Bren made a great cooked breakfast for us.. Then we cracked on and just after lunch, it started :thumb:
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image005.jpg

Even Ross helped :o
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image006.jpg

By mid-afternoon, the engine was finished, new exhaust fitted and it was ready for a test drive ! Bren was rather pleased.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image008.jpg

After the test drive, he even washed it and fitted the Northloop sun-visor he`d had for a couple of years.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/Image010.jpg

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1020637.jpg

Meanwhile, I lapped, Steph sat in for 5, on the 3rd lap, going through Flugplatz flat in 5th, I turned in then just after the bump, the back stepped out, needed 1/2 turn opposite lock left, right and left again ! :o Steph didn`t say much apart from "That went without warning ! " I thought it was the tyres, the PSC`s do bite different to other R tyres I`ve had, but the right handers seemed a little vague on turn in. I wondered if I`d knocked the tracking out or something. A few more laps then back to the campsite for a check and to change the PSC`s for 888`s so I could see how they felt. Jacking up the front and the nearside wheel wobbled. Initially I thought it was the new wheel bearing, but it was the CV nut that had loosened AGAIN ! Loose front wheel CV, that`ll be why it turned in strangely then

The rest of the day was great, busy but dry and I had some really enjoyable laps in traffic. Couple of closures which are to be expected but I took those opportunities to nip back to the campsite for something to eat and check the car.

Not sure if it was Saturday, but I took Mark (Chilled) out for a lap, was going well until Hedwigs Hohe when the throttle pedal went to the floor. Thought the cable had snapped ! Pulled into the marshalls parking post before Wipperman and revered well behind the barriers and out of the way. Popped the Bonnet and it was instantly obvious the cable hadn`t snapped, the rubber that holds the outer part of the cable in place had broken, allowing the cable to move around. Cable ties soon fixed it back into place and it has been fine since..
I broke down the next lap too ! Going through roadworks approaching PF3 and the engine died. Wouldn`t start so I pulled out of the way into the marshall post before Schwalbenschwantz. Took about 15 seconds to diagnose. The main ECU fuse and it had blown again. I had a spare in car, changed it and carried on, took a couple of minutes from stopping to starting again. Back in the carpark I reduced the dwell time and I`ve since done 40 laps without issue. I think it was still saturating the coil and drawing too much current. My plan it to split the feed to the ECU and coil via seperate fuses, rather than the shared one they have now.

Woke up to rain. Lots and lots of rain. The ring was open from 11:15, but there was no urgency around the campsite, usually, people are aware the ring is open and get to the ring asap, today we had coffee and chilled. The rain showed no signs of stopping so I put the wets on the car.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P10207021024x768.jpg

an Hour later and it hadn`t slowed.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P10207071024x768.jpg

A steady 1/2 lap, the Foxhole was a little damp...

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P10207161024x768.jpg

Popped into the CC, had a coffee, went online and chatted with jorg & Karl. Did another 1/2 lap back to the carpark and decided to do another lap, just because I could... :D

The rain didn`t stop all day, there wasn`t even a break :(

We decided that we`d spend the night in our tent, we were joined by Alex, Andrew, Steph & Vicky. :thumb:

We called it a night as it was getting on for 2am. The thing is, even though the rain didn`t stop for over 12 hours, we really didn`t care. I have just read Rainy Sundays report - the day Cat and I basically never came out of the tent.....

I had so much fun that day, and I probably laughed more that day than any other the whole holiday - and I missed half of the nights entertainment when I just laid down (exhausted from the amount of wine Vicky had MADE me drink....) and promptly went to sleep! The next morning our friends from the Netherlands in the caravan next door said they were watching tv, and had to turn it up really loud as they could not hear it because of the singing and laughter from our tent :D

thanks to you all for a great day, and to everyone who made our holiday so much fun :thumb:

Alex`s Birthday !

NO RAIN. :veryhappy: It was chilly, but dry, which was a bonus for Steph as they were packing to go visit Mediocre France for a week, well, it started out as a week, then got shortened to a few days...

The dutch were also leaving, we helped them put the awning down then turn the Caravan around.

It only costs 11 for 10 minutes, its great fun and as the Karts are Gas powered, you don`t get the fumes you normally would from petrol powered ones.

After, as expected, we compared times.

Back to the campsite, had our evening meal with alcohol, then, seeing as it was wet so we watched another film :thumb:

Andrew had a mouse in his tent. Well, not in the sleeping part, but it was making itself comfortable in his `lounge`. It was probably a sign that he hadn`t tidied up for 3 weeks...

A leisurely morning and early lunch as We Had Plans. :karl:

Jorg had invited us to join Jagoda, Mathias and him to see the Cold War German government nuclear bunker ! It was recently opened to the pubic so we jumped at the chance. It is about 35 minutes from Adenau, through Altenahr. I can`t remember the name, but I`m sure Jorg can..

The Bunker is 19km (yes, NINETEEN Kilometers) long. It is big enough for 3,000 people to live for 30 days. The tour covers a tiny percentage of the entire complex. The tunnels are 114m under the mountains !

It rained a lot of the way there, then we parked up and walked alongside the steep vineyards to get there.
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1030365.jpg

Jagoda was thrilled to find there was a carpark at the top and we could have parked there instead :loser:

Ready to go inside.

The tours run at certain times, so we bought our Yellow tokens and popped back outside for a drink. My Token had vanished, I couldn`t find it anyway. Everyone else took great delight in showing me they had THEIR tokens :angry:Jorg, mathias, Jagoda, Andrew

Jorg translated some parts of the tour for us, we also picked up the English tour book when explained each room as the guide took you through it.

As you enter the bunker, you pass thorough the main blast door, it was rather thick. (1.23m thick, 3.7m Diameter, weighing 25 tons each)
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b207/wh00sher/Nurburgring2010/P1030183.jpg

we were very fortunate that the tourguide knew Jorg and operated the door for us :veryhappy:

A highly recommended afternoon out if you like that sort fo thing. Imagining what it could have been like, to live and work in there in the event of a Nuclear war was sobering. Thanks for taking us Jorg :veryhappy:

On the way back we called into the wine merchant where Jorg buys his wine. It is made from locally grown grapes and his family have been using it for year. We had a taste of a few wines, some were very nice indeed. Afterwards, we stopped off at the Comfy Corner for a cup of coffee and chat in the sunshine before venturing up to the ring to do some laps.

As the weather was nice, we had a fire.

Big, we got lost a couple of years ago :shame:

I think the slight bluring in the foreground shows a slightly longer exposure, giving a false impression of speed ;)

You are right, I will say that: "Your son is not capable to drive safely without a drivers license, let alone at the age of 16 and you are one lousy parent for allowing him to do so".
