Will add pictures later but.........

Planned trip with my mate Russ (MX5 Turbo man) for this weekend a couple of months back.

Ash and his mate Steve joined the plan a couple of weeks after in Ash's (ASHTAL) 306 GTi-6.

His colleague Nathan (Astra GTE Mk2) decided to join in as well a while after (Ash?!)

So..........

Friday night, Russ comes over at 1730.

We pop to the pub for a beer, and then head back to mine for a pizza. Another mate popped over and we went back to the pub for another beer and chatted about the possibility of also taking my Civic for the trip. The Eurotunnel was still available when we were at the pub.

When we got back to mine, it had sold out! So the idea was binned.

Bed by 2330.

Up at 0200 and left by 0230.

Arrived at Eurotunnel at c.0410. Met up with Ash et al.

Arrived in Adenau at 1130, sorted rooms all together up at the Wild Pig.

Went and watched some VLN.

Went to Blaue Ecke for some food.

Headed up to 'the' car park for 1600 as the track was due to open at 1700.

A thunderstorm and some seriously heavy rain clouded the previously glorious sunshine and 30 degree temps.

An hour or so later, it died down and then returned back to lovely sun.

We did a couple of careful laps in the MXT, with me guiding Russ around as best I could whilst not knowing the car, and the very changeable track conditions from one corner to the next.

An hour later it had dried and Russ offered me the keys.

Helmets on and we went for a fairly swift lap.

Caught up with a black German Mitsi EVO, who was quick in the straights but not so quick in the bends as the little MX5.

Got fed up and made the little car as big as possible in his mirrors and he did yield at PF2 so off we went.

Great little car, very impressed. Now running only 3psi :rolf: due to new intercooler and not having the boost turned up yet, it's just a touch under 140bhp, but still enough in this little car which handles like a minature version of my old 200SX.

Very unfortunately too small for me in general, and whilst the wheel could turn (just) with my legs in the way, but there was no way I could get my hands past my legs to turn quickly if need be (i.e. To drift, or catch a big slide)........this didn't inspire confidence, so I pushed less hard than I would have, plus of course the fact it wasn't my car!

Back to carpark, and jumped in with Mike in his Espace for a lap, had to round up seven people to minimise our carbon footprint per person. Hilarious lap, even passed a rental 964/993 911 :rolf:

After TF finished, back to the hotel for a few large (400ml :jerk:  ) Bitburgers which sild down nicely (that's what SHE said).

Then to Pinochios for a pizza and a litre of beer each (Cola in Russ's case  ).

Then to the BE for a cocktail and back to bed for 0000.

Up at 0730 for TF at 0800.

Had breakfast and heard the track was shut due to fog. :(

Went up to the Ring*Werk area for a wander round. Saw Chris Davidson  and gang.

Asked a guy in a shop if he knew if the track was open, he made a quick call to someone :fish: and told us it was.

Cue LeMans running to cars!

Russ did 2 more laps today taking his total to 5 for the weekend, getting quicker and now learning bits of the track I had a good time passengering with less guidance required.

I did one more lap in the drying conditions with a couple of little drifts at AF (photographer was there, so fingers crossed) and at Steilstrecke.

Again, impressed with the car. With the planned 0.7Bar boost it should be c. 220/230bhp. Will be EPIC then. (A smaller steering wheel would be nice too  ).

Russ accidentally filmed this lap so that might turn up on YouTube. Certainly not a quick lap, looks slow as feck on the laptop but we made reasonable progress.

Ash, Steve and Nathan did their laps and enjoyed themselves!

Russ went for a lap with Mike in the lime green Golf which he enjoyed. He said we have different lines into a couple of the corners, upon asking which ones (being curious), he told me he didn't know the names so that was the end of that.

Headed back to Adenau to get the bags at 1245, grabbed a bit to eat from the REWE bakery and then headed home.

Awesome trip.....too short though! But fun nonetheless.

The most changeable weather I've ever seen over the course of a weekend in all 16 of my trips!

Can't wait to get back in the Civic. :veryhappy:

(Pics to follow later).

Cool pics :veryhappy:

Well, the trip started on monday for me! This was the day we decided that it would be the 306 making the trip.

Having done a track day at silverstone on the 11th july the clutch was dead and it needed loads of work. So the week consisted of removing gearboxes, fitting clutches, braided lines with motul 5.1 brake fluid. Also dropping the rear which was a nightmare with the torsion bars, oh and a quick shift, tyres, some light stripping.

Finished the car at about seven on friday and left from work to travel down to the hotel in folkstone.

Went to a bar 2 doors down had a couple beers till 12, caught 3 hours shut eye then hit the road to meet dave and russ somewhere near the tunnel. We were all hanging, badly!

A fuel stop as we got off the train seemed a good time to grab a red bull. :D

Had a good drive with some funny gumball moments with mucho sparks and some close calls with cones and campervans!

All the cars make the trip down with no ill effects, good concidering the gte is 22 years old and the amount of work the 306 had just under gone.

Was nice to be back in adenau again in better weather as easter was not great. The vln was a good watch, there was a AWESOME sounding z4 and the r8 was stonking. Got the juices flowing for the TF later that day.
:racing:
When i come to going out on track for the first time i found myself really nervous till the first few corners were done the i relaxed, a bit! I must have looked a complete novice, not knowing whats is over the next crest of round the corner made it a very slow lap. Done 2 laps saturday and learnt alot more than i expected.

The bitburger flowed well on saturday night. Good beer.

After a wait for the track to open sunday i decided to take out nath on a pax lap. Must have got some confidence from the saturday as it felt much quicker. Had a little moment on the hairpin on the way down to adenau which slowed me for a bit. Had a good run down to brunchen, love that part of the track.

Happy with how much i learnt of the track, sadly i still didnt get dave in for a pax, Russ was hogging him! Had a good run in with a mk2 golf on my last lap which was great, got past him in the end. :thumb:

Ace trip, thanks for the invite dave. Cant wait to go again.
