Just had a lads weekend at the Ring with two work colleagues; Ben & Gyros. Bloody fantastic and we did something a bit different from the norm this weekend, we took the MTB’s down with us ;) .

Friday afternoon at work was finished with a 5 mile equipment race around the garrison :o . Within an hour of finishing we’d had a quick shower, loaded the E36 touring and were en-route to Adenau. 4 hours later, we arrived in Adenau & Michaela greeted us outside the Blau Ecke. Once checked in we were in the bar and didnt move from it until 0130. No photos unfortunately as the cameras were on charge but a lot of ale and jagermeister was consumed :drink: .

Saturday morning was a lay in until 0930. After a massive breakfast we were out to unload the car and re-build the bikes before setting off for a lap of the Nordschleife MTB trail.

One of the things we realised by cycling the lap was how much uphill there is that you don’t notice in a car, getting from Adenau to Bergwerk was a lick out in itself :o .

After half hour watching from Bergwerk (what an awesome spot) we headed on UP Kesselchen towards Steilstrecke and that, is a proper griz!!

Thank feck we went off via the Karoussel, unlike these two nutters beside us:

With the hangovers now fully kicked in it was a unanimous decision to take a 20 min break here and watch some action.

My Saracen Zen2 resting at the Karoussel….

(love this bike Dave :thumb:)

& Gyros’s Specialized Rockhopper….

Hohe Act was nails so Ben and I walked…..

Gyros didn’t, but it soon caught up with him………….

Helmets were donned and the ride down to Brunnchen was our first real taste of downhill :racing: .

We took the tunnel and headed up to the top of Eiscurve.

By which time there was a track closure for about an hour so after a few empty track photos we headed on through Pflanzgarten, Schwabelschwanz and onto the outside of the Mini-Karoussel.

The track was still closed at this point less a few laps from the Taxi so we headed over the garage on DH for a water replen. Track now back open we headed over to the car park and drooled over Sabine for a bit.

Mike Solo came in with the Metro of win but he wandered off before I could catch him  .

So, we headed off to RSR to look around and say hello to Dale and co. Dale is bloody top bloke BTW :thumb: , he also sent Mike a text on our behalf simply reading “CC?” – more on that shortly.

After half hour of talking petrol and drooling over cars we headed off up towards T13 and down to Hatzenbach/Hocheichen. At this point, Gyros was touching cloth so he headed off into some trees to break off a loaf leaving me and Ben to watch some more action.

With Gyros now 5lbs lighter we were back on the saddle and heading up towards Flugplatz. In hindsight we should have gone right of the track as going left took us out of sight from the action. Eventually we crossed over at Aremburg and took an awesome MTB trail through the woods down the right hand side towards foxhole and into our last climb of the day.

With my legs hanging out and my saddle beginning to become unbearable I was relieved to be heading downhill again towards Wehrseifen and back to Breidscheid. By this time is 4pm and we were in need of re-hydration.

So we stopped in the CC. Luckily, we were in good company as Karl was perched in his usual spot :karl: . 4 beers down the hatch and we headed off slightly more energetic back to the Blau Ecke for a cheeky hour snooze and to shower and freshen up before the nights antics.

So, back into the CC and Karl was still there (although he insists he had been home  ) along with Mike Solo. After some excellent food from Jorg it was back on gas in drinking mode. Mike Solo’s ‘what I learnt at the weekend’ says it all really – fantastic night with good company, just a shame Karl bottled it when the shock cups came out…

Shock FTMFW!!!!

Jorgs piss is mega !! In just 2 weekends I’ve cleaned him out.

The evening finished up back in the Blau Ecke for a nightcap with me and Gyros having to drink Mike and Bens last beer before heading off to bed.

BTW, American Airmen are very easily impressed by drunken Brit Squaddies necking half a litre of beer in 9 seconds when given a whole minute to do it in!

More to come……..

So.....having sacked it a 2am I woke up around 0930 again, texted Mike and had a full on breakfast necking as much coffee as i could. We packed our bags, stuck em in the baggage room and checked out with Michaela before heading up towards Ringwerks.

The weather was pretty shyte so in accordance with my own rules we took a wander into the Ringwerk museum. It was a good choice as we also got a free 2nd entrance for 2010 and based on our hangovers we will need to go again.

4D 24 hr cinema, looking pretty rough might i add...

Pretty cool and gave Gyros and Ben a taste of what to expect next week :thumb: :drink:

I asked the girl on the desk when the ring racer would be open and she said 'no idea' :(

Needless to say, there were no queues to this one...

After an hour or so I got a reply from Mike and met him in the coffee shop outside. By now the weather was clearing up and our heads were too.

Mike offered us a lap in the Metro of win which was an offer we couldnt refuse

Video for those that havent seen it

I have never been so scared in my life but at the same time found something so funny.

13 minutes later, we all boarded the E36 touring for another lap. I really need to get some decent brakes on this car, heading into Wherseifen & Breisched without them is a bit hairy.

11 minutes or so later  we headed back in Adenau, dropped Mike off at the CC to collect his BMW and back to the Blau Ecke. Having shortly re-loaded the car and having said farewell to Michaela we were back on the road and home for dinner.

Top Weekend and well worth taking the bikes down again. Thanks to all those that made it such good fun :thumb:

How did that FTMFW sticker get on that???

I really should run another batch of those off. I still have some Porker 'kill' stickers too if anyone missed out.

What is this shock drinking game??

Whenever we meet I shall teach you ;) .

It's basically a game with a cup & 3 dice. I taught Mike in an hour or two so it can't be that hard to learn.

Spirits make me cry, can we play with beer? Seriously, G&T is my limit.

I am straight BTW.

We drink beer whislt playing, yeh. The shots are for when someone loses the game, which can be anything from 5 mins to an hour.

Hopefully Jorg is brewing some more piss for the next visit.

I'm over with some mates in a fortnight or so, but it might be one for the August jaunt.

Just read this thread for the first time. Good to know the participants before reading. Yes, the N24 weekend did get a bit messy, but I'm sure I can clean things up when I finally get home.

Walked much of the m/b track over the weekend, tho not the hard part from Breidscheid to Hohe Acht :shame: or the easier bit from there to Brunschen. However, from the parts I walked, it gives a different perspective on things. Fabulous scenery on its own, epic when accompanied by the sound of racing engines and the sight of the cars carrying them.
