Last minute I booked in to do Elvington (http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk) as a shakedown to see what more work was needed on the car prior to the first meeting at Brands Hatch on 27th March. I'll be updating my project thread soon.

I managed to borrow a friends Pajero for the day, meaning I could maximise track time as I had a shortage of tyres. Loaded up on friday night, picked up on sat morning nice and early and off to Elvington collecting fuel en-route. Signed on and car unloaded, sighting laps completed and some tyre swapping completed just in time for Stace and Tim to arrive.

Due to my lack of organising I couldn't find the charger for my video camera so there is no video. Had fun out on track in the morning, was slippery at first but grip increased after the track was used more. Too Tim and Stace out first then it rained mid-morning which resulted in some sideways fun with Tim, then Stace followed by Stace having a go for himself.

I might of had a little accident and injured my already injured front bumper as a result of bumper to cone interference at 70(ish) mph with encouragement from Stace :nono: .

Lessons learned were:
Oil cooler needs re-locating for better airflow
Brakes are great
Go down the gears slower under braking (I don't think 8000rpm on a stock engine is good)
I need to wash the car
Car is rather good fun
For an hour race we will need to put in approx 40litres.
Never leave camera charger in Norfolk.

On-track pics to follow.

Sounds good :thumb:

What have you done with the brakes?

Chris' car go sideways for fun, very easily :thumb:

He's got 1144's in there, but standard otherwise. Well powerful and fade free :thumb:

Get the pics up big boy :karl:

And btw, the bumper was nowt to do with me :D

Yep Stace is correct. Old discs (pretty knackered and need replacing) with well worn M1144's on standard road fluid. In the afternoon when I remembered to take the ABS fuse out they were good enough to lock up at about 115mph.

I also need to change the gear oil as after a long stint on track it was difficult to engage gears quickly, this leads me to think that the oil was getting too warm, gonna give Pinderman as call to see what that superduper oil is that he uses, it eliminated all his gearbox problems.

Looking good. Did you remove the front `grille` to aid cooling ? Without video proof, I don`t believe you were sideways :fishing:

Great to hear it held up to your abuse for an hour on track. Now.... :racing:

Sighting laps c0ck! If you look closely you will notice that I am not driving, that would be Mr Revalation driving :thumb:

Yep,forgot to put that the grill was removed in a bid to keep the oil temperatures down :)

Wheels swapped for some of my spares with decent road tyres on, borrowed bumper for a couple of weeks until mine is painted. Just needs a clean now

the bumper now resides in our scrap pile. I managed to pick one up a couple of weeks ago but it's diablo red, so I'm just waiting for a lazy ar$ed painter to sort it out :thumb:

Yep :thumb: you put on opposite lock and point it where you want it to go.

Nah, I have got some mounts, proper hard metal stuff ones, not fitted yet though.

Big ARB to do in too along with bigger TB's
