When it get´s cold and the nights coming earlier and it gets quieter in the office (just for Tim & Bob), it time for me to disapear from the ring for a while… Time for a holiday in sunny england…

Flight - check
Hotel – check
Trainticket – check or maybe not (Thanks Darren to get it sorted in the end :thumb: )
Travelcard - check

After rayanair changed the flight times about million times I ended up in the earliest flight in the world 06:35am, got up 02:00am, leave Adenau 03:30am, Frankfurt-Hahn by 5:00am

Rain in Hahn

Arrival in London 06:40am, that was quick only a 5 minute flight… Change my watch and than coffeeeeeeeeee… After a nice coffee at Costa (only because I couldn´t find a Starbucks – Some of you might now already , I love Starbucks) I felt a bit more alive and ready for the journey with the Stansted Express into the city. The website of the hotel said, only a 10 minute walk from Bayswater tubestation, but they forgot to tell which way… Right, left, straight on??? I decided to take the left way which were right to start with, but because of a roadwork one road was closed and the nice person I asked fort he way sent me in a total different direction, thanks to Chris the courier car driver who showed me the right way. So after long 10 minutes I reached my hotel after 1h walk, lucky it was not raining…

Room was, of course not ready, so had a chat with the guy from the reception. He said he love to work in germany, so I offered him to swop the jobs and ask he with a smile what time I need to start in the morning and when I`m finished. 8 to 4 he said. Oh yes, strike, I take it… I told him a bit of my job and I don´t know why, he lost all interests to swop jobs…damn 
Sure he don´t know how to handle a busy day in the office…

Room ready, looks ok, so short rest, a wander around the area, before I met Simon at Victoria Station from where we start our trip to the Bilham-House where we had a lovely dinner (thanks Jackie & Steve) and a lots of fun.

A view to the watch said we had to hurry up to get the last train, so Dean gave us a lift to the nearest tubestation.

Day 2 starts with a look out of the window and lots of rain, but hey I´m from germany, we do have lots of rain too. So camera, umbrella and first stop at Starbucks… Did I tell you already that I love Starbucks??? Grande Latte…mmmhhhhh… And because I´m a proud owner of a starbucks card (Thanks to Mark´s Mum) I could use the wifi there, when it works…
And when I left Starbucks with my camera, my umbrella and my Caffe Latte the rain stoped and it looked as I might be lucky to have a dry, long walk in the parks.

Why is everybody saying it´s always raining in the UK? That´s wrong…
When I woke up Friday morning I saw a blue sky and sunshine. Great Day for a boat trip I thought, I didn´t expect to regret that later…
I think I don´t have to mention where I start this day, of course with a Grande Latte at of course Starbucks. Then into the tube to Westerminter where the boats of City Cruises starts…
Lucky I got a place on the top deck outside as the boat was very busy. Everybody like to get the best places for the best pictures. What a brilliant day, blue sky, sunshine, I only forget to mention it was absolutely freezing. After one hour the boat stops and on the way back the boat was still busy, but not outside anymore. The captains word to me and a daddy with his little son:”Congratulations, you be very brave to keep your place outside” Hey come on mister I´m from the Eifel, we know what cold is…brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What a lovely boat trip, but I was really happy that I still could move feeds and fingers when I got off the boat and to warm me up I had a walk around in the city before I met Dan, Si and Dave for some drinks and dinner with proper English food.

Believe it or not, but sunshine again Saturday morning, and yes I did it again before I walked to Nottinghill to see the Portobello Road Market. I know it is a very famous market but I didn´t expect it that busy. But I have to say it is such a lovely area and all of you live around there can be very happy. I really enjoyed to see all this little colored houses, the little shops and the street musician. A lovely atmosphere… I have to say that is one of my favourite places in London…But because it was so busy the little shops were so full that shopping was definitely a fail, so I came back Monday to had a look inside the little shops and left the camera at home …

In the evening I met Mark and his parents for a dinner in the oldest restaurant of the London the “Rules”. Because it is so famous you have to book your table 2 month in advance (wow, can´t wait till the BE get´s that famous). I didn´t know what to expect, but stop even to think about when I left my train, that tube station was so busy as I never seen one before. Some guys tried to get the situations under control but it wouldn´t work properly… I managed to get out of the underground station after about 30 minutes, but still very busy out side, so where to find Mark?! Luckily somebody contrived the mobile phone…
The restaurant was absolutely lovely… A bit too much of everything but absolutely gorgeous… I had my first pie and I saw the waiter serving a absolutely great looking dessert to the neighbor´s table I knew, I need one of those aswell, just one word: FANTASTIC…
Absolut full after a lovely meal we had a wander around the city and to covent garden, before a great day ended.
Thanks again Mark for the lovely meal and a nice evening…

My plan for Sunday was to go to Windsor and see the Home of the Queen. Woke up and there he was again, the rain… But whatever, camera, umbrella and off to the tube, but of coure not without… everybody knows it already… A Grande Latte….
Good that I had one, because I had to wait for a 25 minutes late train to Paddington, from where the train to Westminster should start… At Paddington I had to wait another 35 minutes for the train to Westminster… Work on the rails they said, ok no problem I have time I´m on holiday… When I sat in the train after a long time waiting I could see the sky clear up and the sun came out and everything could be so nice if… Yes, the train stopped two stations before Westminster and we should get a connecting train, all out of the train, and looking for the connecting train, where is it? A look to the signs let me laugh… Cancelled, of course!!!
Lots of upset people around me, but I was smiling… That´s so typical… But I didn´t want to go back half way, so I asked the guys at the train station what they like to do with all the upset people at their station, and he promised to organise a bus, hey here we go, 15 minutes later the bus came and brought us to the castle. Nearly 3 hours for a trip which normally takes 1 hour, but I made it and the weather seems to be in a good mood and send sunshine for the whole afternoon… And the way back was surprise, surprise without any problems…

Sometimes you are lucky sometimes not… Rain again… Back to Notting Hill for shopping and a relaxing day…
When it stops raining in the evening I thought it would be good to go out to take some pics in the dark and to use my London Eye Ticket I bought in advance. I think I might it till the tube station without getting wet before the heavy rain starts. Because I was on my way anyway I didn´t care.
The city looks beautiful in the night and so different. The London Eye in the dark is a experience, shame that it rained. And that I was not allowed to take my tripod on the ride in the Eye.
The weather god seems to have a heart for me and let the rain get less that I could wander round without getting more wet.

Tuesday was my last day in London, the weather didn´t look that good when I got up in the morning. After having a look on the city map I decide to see what Regent Park look like.
Umbrella & Camera and here we go, of course not before a stop at…

On my last evening in the big city I went out for some drinks with James in a lovely pub…
The girl behind the bar was absolutely brilliant, I offered her a job but she said she love the pub and can´t work anywhere else…

Wednesday morning I needed to pack…puuuhhhhh… I didn´t bought that much, or did I? That was all in there before… Ok, done… Check out and off to my favourite coffee shop as I had an hour to kill before I´m off to the train station to continue my trip to Coventry. As promised I got my ticket the day before sent to the hotel, not that it should be already reached me 2 weeks before at home, but thanks Darren (xxx).
As I had some time to kill on the train station I had time enough for a visit in my second favourite shop, a book shop.
The train was very busy and the seat reservation service didn´t work, so everybody ended up on the wrong seat, my luggage blocked everybodys way, but I get well to Coventry where Darren picked me up from the train station…
Only 2 days till the northloop Christmas party and I were so looking forward to see the kids.
Little Fern been so kind and let me sleep in her new lovely princess room, Darren starts getting silly and Maddie did us a lovely dinner (thanks!!!)

Sunshine in Coventry means you need to have a walk with the dog in the War Memorial Park, so did I…And very nice when the dog decide which way we need to go…

Before the big northloop carting on Saturday afternoon and the dinner in the evening I had to go to my favourite supermarket in the UK to buy some needed stuff, like curry sauce, lempsip, McCoy Chrisps, PG Tips… I had a long shopping list from germany.
Lunchtime Floyd arrived shortly before Dave came to pick us all up for the carting in Birmingham. We were quite lucky with the weather as it didn´t rain. We had a very save secure journey as we were following the police escorting a bus with, we think the football team played in Birmingham that afternoon in.
To be fair, I expected some mud, but what we got was more than some…
For all of you couldn’t make it, you really missed a lot of fun, dirty faces, big laughs, funny breakdowns and spectacular “crashes”

Just a few shots:

After getting back to the Casa Langeveld we all had a needed shower and got ready for the evening. After a lovely dinner we went to a nightclub and had all a lot of fun. Because I did forget the small camera at home I don´t have any picture from the party night, but I think some others posted a few earlier. I have to say I had a really great day and it was so nice to be away from work having fun, dancing, a few drinks and coming home when I normaly go to work…

And here all the pics from that day, sorry, I´m not very good in taking pics of moving things…

A bit tired, but not far as much hangover as some other I saw when I get up it was time to pack before Si, Mark and Dan would come to pick me up to give me a lift to standsted airport. Last day of a great holiday ended with lunch at KFC and over a hour delated flight at Cologne Airport 11:25pm.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4041/4188570060_a72797b10f.jpg
…to all make my holiday so brilliant again. It was great to catch up with you all and I can´t wait to met you all again

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4041/4188570060_a72797b10f_m.jpg
to Dan & Simon for the dinner and Simon for the lift back to London, to Mark for the lift to the airport and the lovely dinner, Gary for the calendar. And to all I forgot!!!
And of course Maddie and Darren to let me stay in their house again and for the great hospitality.

And one last thing:

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4041/4188570060_a72797b10f_b.jpg
to all of you I met 2009 for making me smiling and laughing, making it in spite of all the trouble, stress, hectic and a few sad or bad moments a great year.
I hope to see you all back in 2010!!!

If someone like to see all the 1537 pictures I took, feel free
