View Full Version : Dotty's summer report

16-08-2009, 04:12 PM
We decided to have another summer at Nurburg ring :thumb:

And this is my report !

Saturday : Day 1

We arrived at the campsite to meet Dave Boulder and discovered The Pinders were out :fish: After having an enjoyable chat with Mr Boulder, Nige arrived telling us some excuse i can't even remember!! But at least they were here.

We were very impressed with the German camp next door :o

The boys played for a bit :D

We decided that as our welcoming meal we would have a very welcoming Pinochios Pizza. We ordered a large one to share between Mum, Dad and me... we kinda knew what was coming...

The much awaited first campfire was lit by Nigel. A very good one it was too. A very enjoyable evening. :thumb:

Sunday : Day 2

After a LOT of rain pelting down on us through the night we decided to visit team Northloop at the Rad am ring event. And GOD had it chucked it down that night :o

This guy had a suitcase??

It stayed rainy all afternoon and I think this was our only full day of rain rain rain. Which was good! We popped into Sport am Ring for some scrumptious milkshakes :) mmmmmmmmmmmmm

For our tea we had pasta which Mum made, VERY IMPRESSIVELY (she would like me to add) with the gas cooker  Another goooood fire that night too with Pinder family, Graham family and Dave gathered around it keeping warm :thumb: That night we also heard from Andrew Hereward that he wouldn't be making it out on time :(

goodbyes for Dave too as he was off early the next morning. Nice meeting you :thumb:

Monday : Day 3

Monday morning we spent at the Burgstube catching up on our supply of... internet !! While Mum desperately wanted a coffee. However Any didn't know how to use the achine himself, so Mum attempted at using it, unsuccessfully. Luckily Martin turned up so saved Mum from her coffee fiasco. Whoop!!

Monday afternoon was very enjoyably spent in Cochem. It was very beautiful there though I was quite afraid of the cable cars, especially going up! Matty kindly pointed out the sharp rocks below and how INCREDIBLY HARD they are and how you would CRACK YOUR HEAD if you fell... thanks

what was Dad up to? :D

Because Lou had brought her plug in wok (which was very useful), her and Mum prepared some fajitas for around the campfire. Mmmm! They were soooo nice. THE perfect meal for around a campfire. :) Although...the campfire wasn't the best in the heat department. Mum with the blanket kind of proved that. Though Dad thinks it was damp wood  Andrew Stacey and his wife joined us for that evening. All was lovely jubbly.

More to come :thumb:

Tuesday : day 4

During the day on Tuesday we went to Rienbach to go to a massive swimming complex there. It is really awesome as we went last summer but this time we went with the Keselaars (sp?). Also it was much nicer weather that before so we got to go out into the freeeezing outside pool. Veerrrryyy refreshing

That evening the men went out to get some fresh wood (now i know you're probably laughing at that cos the adults always do but just so you know i don't know what it means :P ). While they were out the ladies lit a fire :thumb:

A bloomin' good one it was too :smug:

Wednesday : Day 5

Wednesday was BAKING hot. Cat and I fetched buckets of water, spilling it a bit down our legs each time we brought any down the hill. We made up a little dance to get rid of the water :D

Cat and me with our pool.

The men worked for a bit on their cars. Nige and his fetching overalls B) Oooooh yeeeeh.

We went to Adenau pool in the afternoon with the kesselaars again. A lot of fun :thumb:

Cat and me demonstrating our dance :smug:

In the evening was our first time on track!! Yay! I went out with Dad while Mum went out with Nigel. It was absoloutley HEAVING. We didn't stay too long as we needed to get ready for an evening out. The Pinders were off to Jorg's birthday meal. (I heard they had a very good time.) The Grahams went out to the chinese in Adenau. It was the yummiest chinese I think i've ever had! After we popped off to the Burgstube for a bit. I practised my air guitar...

and caught up with my friends B)

Thursday : Day 6

For the morning we went to the Burgstube for a while for some hot chocolatting and coffeeing. Nigel worked on his car and Dad did too.

For lunch we went to the Eis Cafe in Adenau. Ice cream... for lunch! This had to be a first time... :shame:

Lou and Cat:

Me and Matty's ice cream (not him)

I wasn't too keen on mine so I finished off Mum's for her :smug:

http://i600.photobucket.com/albums/tt84/annabellegraham/IMG_4721.jpgThat evening we went to the HEAVING track again and I went out with Dad as usual and thoroughly enjoyed it as usual! I also went out with Nigel and it was only my second ever time out with Nigel. I really enjoyed going out in Nigel's car as he drives differently to my Dad and I also really like being in his car too :thumb:

When we got back we chilled. Matt showed his feminine side...

And Dad barbequed:

And Mum and Nigel talked about the moon and the Earth... :fish:

More to come...

 @ You Nige!

Great report, good to hear that even the younger generations still love going to the Nurburgring.

I had to make do with camping in france at that age, and the internet wasn't even heard of back then :o

16-08-2009, 05:51 PM
Great report :thumb:

Modest as ever Nige

16-08-2009, 05:56 PM

16-08-2009, 06:54 PM
Great to hear what's been going on from a different angle (i.e. not Nige for a change :P ).

On that note - loving the mechanic / Northern raver cross-over look Nige..... :fishing:

Friday : Day 7

Friday, again, was a hot and sunny day. And we already knew what we had in mind for today...

Vroooooooooommm!! The Rodehlbharn! And BOY was it fun for a firstimer like myself

The non firsttimers also enjoyed it alot!

A very enjoyable day! And to be honest I wasn't looking forward to it that much either. I'm so glad I did it! :D

That night it was time for a comfy corner sign a long night. I'd looked forward to this for a while. Yay! The food was great:

Getting ready to start singing...

Let's.... SING!

I loved the night and it was verrryyyy fun. Thank you Jorg!

Saturday : Day 8

On Saturday it was immensely foggy so the track opened for an hour, then closed. I think Dad and Nigel had 1 and a half laps each but I had no PAX laps today. To be honest I didn't really fancy going out in the fog

Matching tops

There's always one

Matty tried to get me into the paddling pool :o

That evening we had another BBQ. Poor Mum, Nigel took the last plate :o Mum had to eat off a chopping board  Sorry... Nigel kept apologising but we know he's laughing in his head...secretly ;)

Mum enjoyed her sausage

It was quite chilly that night so Matty, Cat and I went into The Pinder for warmth. whoop!

Sunday : Day 9

For the whole day the track was open. Whooop!! To begin with I had a lap with Nigel. Again it was very cool and different. thank you muchly B)

I look right at home don't you think?

then i went out with Dad and as we were coming back into the car park there was a bump in the drive and it was very shaky. We drove up to the burgstube for a coffee anyway (on anit-lag :D pop pop!). He had a closer look at it up there and discovered he had a broken brake disc. Lucky it hadn't happened while out on track eh?

For the afternoon Mum and I went to take photos at Eis Kurve where earlier on in the day Lou and Cat had been. We went there last summer and it was awesome to watch there so we decided we'd do it again.

Shame it's out of focus :(

Nigel and Matty

My bruise from Rienbach flumes...

After not very long a marshall car pulled over next to the arm co and shouted "GET BACK" to us. Then he drove off. Mum and I looked at each other and decided that was our que to leave.

Just as we were walking down the hill to get back onto the track road we heard SCREEEECHHH kaBOOSH. I bit my lip and suspected it was a massive crash just where we had been standing. thankfully two other german photographers were there so decided we wouldn't go back.

We saw some ambulances heading to the corner just as we were leaving too. ouch.

Cat and I with our salt sticks:

For dinner we went to the Burgstube. Luuurvly shnitzel and pepper sauce. Yum yum!

While dad and I sang to Hey there Delilah

Finished that quick!! :o

A very enjoyable evening. Thank you Heidi!

Monday : Day 10

Monday morning and Dad and Nige went to Kelberg to try and find a brake disc to replace dad's broken one. Unfortunately they were unsuccessful. This filled the campsite with glumness (is that a word?!).

Matty took me for a walk round the campsite Monday morning and showed me the shop and around the place too. I never realised it was that big! :o The shop was very cute so I decided to show Mum. I bought a very cool t-shirt there :smug:

On the way we saw a tiny frog!

Can you see it?!

Today to cheer us up a bit we went to Adenau pool (again). I jumped off one of the spring boards for the first time it was awesome! Cat went to sleep over the Kesslaars so it was going to be a quiet night!

Martin and Heidi had kindly offered for us to go with them to La Lanterna. It was a nice night with yummy food.

I was enjoying myself :D

Martin showing his agressive side

Tuesday : Day 11

Our last day :(

The morning was spent packing. Everything was a bit tense, I was really upset so I just wanted to be silent. It rained all morning so we spent it inside. For lunch it was beans and sausages and tinned fruit salad. Had to be the best lunch of the holiday. :thumb:

The afternoon cleared up a bit with lovely blue skies before mum came out in her bikini

I cheered up a bit after that and realised what I was missing out on

Nigel found this towel in the bathroom presuming it was Matt's. It wasn't... he wanted to let us know what it might have been used for...

I wanted to spend the afternoon Matty. I knew I was gonna miss him :( I was gonna miss everyone.

Cat arrived back after Mum and I had had a lap with Nigel. My last one.. sniff :(

Our last campfire :(

Nige found a sketch up by the bins. He burnt it :o

Everyone was very sad.

We decided to do the maccarina :)

Unfortunately this was our last night. Writing this now I am missing everyone. But it was our time. Bye bye

Brilliant :veryhappy:

LOL @ your dad and me and the matching tops and trousers... :loser:

You didn`t say that photo of me was taken when your mum left the camera on the chair, she didn`t know I`d taken it

It was your dad who mentioned where the towel may have been, I was just acting out what he suggested :D

Thats a great report Dotty. You`ll read that over the winter and smile to yourself about what a fabulous time you had.

Campsite won`t be the same without you all.

yes, I think `glumness` was the right word...
