Following my easter trip i'd been asked if i could collect a car for someone and deliver it to the 'ring.

No problem, it would take a little bit of planning, but i would drive from the sunny north east of England, down to Reading to collect, then off to Dover, ferry to Calais then of to the 'ring.

So knowing the trip was going to happen, i provisionally booked time off work, got my Jeep ready for the road trip and organised the loan of the trailer.

Normally, its pretty easy to organise a trip, you decide on the dates, book the ferry and accommodation, then everything is sorted.

Not in this case

For some strange reason, the chap who wanted the car delivering, appeared to be incapable of orgainsing a p*ss up in a brewery.

I phoned/texted/e-mailed regularly, asking for the ferry booking ref/dates, and the name/contact number and address of the person i was collecting the car for.

Weeks passed and this information was still unknown

Anyway, the week of the alledged trip came round and i still did not have any booking details or contact phone numbers.

Ecentually, on the Tuesday before the trip i got the phone number of the chap selling the car.

I phoned him, explained the situation about the bloody ferry and asked if it would be possible to collect the car on the Friday, "if" the ferry had been booked.

He said no problem, but then mentioned the fact that the car hadn't been paid for :o

So i had to collect the car, pay for it and deliver it on an imaginery ferry, cool, i thought, this trip really is going to turn to sh*t.

So countless more messages were sent, one of my mates who was coming along as back up driver was constantly texting asking if the trip was still on.

I said if i didn't get a booking, i was that prepared for getting back out, i'd just book a trip in one of my cars and we'd go anyway.

But no, lo and behold, at about 6.30pm, the DAY BEFORE THE TRIP, a booking ref came through!

At bloody last

So the trip was on.

Up next morning, left the house at 7am, collected the trailer and headed off down the A1.

I collected my mate at York, then it was down to Peterborough to collect the tie down straps

Mate number 2 decided he would come along for the trip as well, so it was now off to Reading.

Found the bloke with the car, paid for it  loaded up and we wer off to Dover.

If Friday rush hour, on the M25...............

I took a couple of detours, saving a bit of time, but it was still slow going, eventually arriving at Dover at least an hour late for our ferry.

The girl at the checkin was excellent, very helpful as i'd forgotten my booking ref and didn't know what time we were supposed to be sailing. :shame:

The ferry was uneventful, we got off and headed for the ring!

About an our later we encountered our first problem.

The Jeep is LPG, the stations in France have different LPG connectors!

Not good.
We p*ssed about checking a couple of stations, and in the end decided we had to run on petrol. Not much of a problem, apart from the tank being tiny due to the LPG tank, and only doing about 15mpg on Petrol!

So we had to stop every 100 miles to fill up, until we got in to Holland and filled up at a station with the proper connectors!

Anyway, we eventually arrived at Brens at about 2.30am, a bloody long day out!

We had a bit of a lie in, then it was up for breakfast and down to deliver the car.

But they didn't have any money, so we'd have to wait

By about lunch time, I collected my Golf from Martin at the Burgstube and it was time for some comedy lapping, 3 or 4 up, harrassing newcomers in their GT3s and M3s.

It was a good afternoon.

Sat night was a nice relaxing night in the Lindenhof, one of my mates, a grown adult, decided he couldn't handle his beer, and barfed everywhere :jerk:

We eventually headed back to the B&B, then it was up earlyish for the BERG CUP!

We headed down to a place called Wolsfeld, for one of the rounds of the Berg Cup, a hill climb championship for "youngtimers"

Here are the photos stolen from one of my mates on the trip :D
