The next job on the 325 is an exhaust. The stoopid aftermarket tailpipe is rusting to bits. It may look like the Iraqy supergun but it has more holes in it than a collander.

I will have a look under the car this afternoon to see the extent of the rot and whether it runs to the rest of the pipe or just the tail.

Just looking around and as well as the standard exhausts there are a million and one tuners offering their wares.

Anyone know what I should be getting my hands on? Anyone know where there is one going cheap ;)

Anyone know if a standard exhaust is any good?

As always your help appreciated :thumb:

Speaking to a mate who works on these he said that unless you are looking to change the manifold the standard exhaust is fine for the job.

In which case its a case of getting what I can find at the best price. Might be lucky and find its the back box only, although they cost around 200 :o :o Might get the welding kit out first and have a crack with that :thumb:

Gary, stop

We just had a complete new exhaust put on Claire's 325i by Arno for about 200 Euros.

I hope you are keeping good track of how much this bimmer is costing you Gary

Before you next launch in with relevant advice of buying a ring toy for 800 quid and getting it track ready for another 600  :fishing:

Car owes me 680 as it stands :thumb:

Still well worth it and i've already been offered more for it ;)

Just the slight 500 mile problem Karl ;) Not making any decisions just yet though, unless I see a bargain.

Keep an eye on the zone mate, eBay is ok but you need to use caution buying E30 stuff (well anything really I guess). People seem to try to make them attractive through any means even if it involves telling porkies.

Lots of people break 325s on the zone, let me know if you need to know if a particular seller is reputable. :thumb:

OK had the exhaust checked out. It has the 2 piece system which apparently is a good thing as there is no flange fit between the 2 silencers ...... dont ask me im a simpleton :D The issue with mine is the rear silencer so only the back section needs replacing.

So my question to you BMW guru's is, is this a 2 or 3 piece exhaust?

Found this fella over in Germany, the question is will it be different it being for a LH drive car? Not such a silly question as it sounds .......

The English eBay one looks like it's from a 3 piece system. There is another pipe which joins to the front of that which then goes to the manifold.

I think that German one is the two piece.

Please don't quote me on that, get a second opinion!

:)
