yes was a great weekend with loads of crazy german scaffold/ wood buildings all around the track, fires, fireworks, drunken behaviour tollerated. Some of the organisers from england should go over and see how to do a proper 24 hour race. Can you imagine trying to erect some of those buildings in england ha ha.
Also had a good drink with M3 toms dad in the lindenhoff on the friday night..

I have found the clique. I was forcibly removed from this photo as I was not part of the clique. Feeble attempts by the clique to make me feel better have not worked. My counseller said today that I should just block it out and administer some rohypnol... wait take some prozac and get over it.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

The report:
Our trip to the N24 was separate from the main advance battalion. We decided attack early on Friday morning once Nurburg had been softened up for us by group 'cannon fodder' on operation 'hangover'.

We arrived in Adenau and collected our accomodation keys from Michaela at the BE. What a star she is :veryhappy: and her hospitality/generosity is brilliant B)

On the way to drop off our bags we bumped into Sonja, who had a sore head. She said something about a late night and a lady beer or two  It sounded like the party had already started... Next stop the CC and we said our hello's and booked a table for Saturday night :thumb: It felt like coming home :thumb:

After the bag drop (I bagged the single room  while Nige was paired with Simon :D ) we headed for the Burgstrube to see Martin, Heidi, Andy and then Team B. Gary gave a guided tour of the wonderful markets of 24hr town  and on the way we met this chap with a world class cheesy grin:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009034.jpg
The markets actually consisted of tat and beer stalls:

I don't even remember that last picture of me being taken  No more pictures from me of that night (that are publishable). We made it back to the digs and went to sleep to the sound of happy snoring and farting - bliss.

I got woke up at earlierthanexpected o'clock by Simon and his skilled ninja creeping past me for a wee, trick. I particularly liked the way he managed to creak each and every floor board :loser: That was it then. I had no blind on my window so bright sunshine and a need to go for a wee meant no real lie in for me :argue: Anyway, the day looked to good to stay in bed so we all arose and some got tea in bed :thumb: Thank you tea fairy, who ever you are :D

We took a trip down to the Rewe for supplies and a bit of a look around - the beer shop was, er, busy
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009075.jpg

Having been extremely jealous of Teffers black waistcoat we were all surprised and excited to find the same item at a stall nearby:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009074.jpg

Afterwards we were wondering where Jim had gone to and hen Simon noticed a young lady trying clothes on at the same stall. She was trying on all sorts of tops and not bothering to be discrete either, especially as she didn't have a bra. No, I didn't take a picture :pokefun:

The main event. We met up at HB and watched the parade and start of the race. The day was gloriously hot an a few had brought sun cream so I blagged some and covered up. I think others wished they had too

As it turned dark we decided to view at Adenau Bridge where the air was thick with smoke of all sorts!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009150.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009164.jpg
The fireworks were going off all around and sometimes being fired across the track at the fans on the other side

We had a great meal at the CC that night too:

Sunday morning was started with scrambled egg on toast, tea followed by some geeky wifi antics and photolaptopery. I washed up because everyone else was 'busy' We packed our gear and headed for some viewing at the bridge at BTG. We couldn't all fit in one car so Major Cameroon had to pax in the Pug CC.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009175.jpg
There will be some interesting pictures from the others here, as we wanted to capture a Major Catastrophy from Major Malcolm Function  It looked B) though :thumb:

An Audi photo, taken from that bridge:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009177.jpg
Nige wasn't tall enough, in fact no one is tall enough to take photos over the bridge wall so Nige resorted to standing on a road cone, which collapsed. So I tried it and it even collapsed with me on it

After that we decided to explore other viewing points on the far side before T13. This involved a short walk through the woods. We contemplated leaving breadcrumbs to find our way back or pine cones as we had no bread. Brilliant.

All was well until we came across a raging river to cross. Nige build a suspesion bridge to shame Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Not really. Ian jumped first and was successful so I followed and hilariously made it look difficult. It wasn't of course. I just wanted to inject some humour into the mundanenous, which will be proved with video evidence  Simon followed and we had camera's at the ready just in case.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009183.jpg

Up a steep hill the other side, we popped out at a fantasticly close viewing spot. Unfortunately it took just under a nanoi second for the marshalls to start their whistles and shoe us away :shame:

We tried some other areas, which entailed picking our way through stinking mud paths or fly infested piles of human poo, only to get the same 'get lost' message from the marshalls. Bugger

We ended up at FP and got some great shots leading up to the rise and after it. Here are two SLR heroes who monopolised the viewing hole:

After we'd had our fill of the 24hr it was time to head to Calais, stopping at a health shop on the way:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009187.jpg

We spent an evening in Calais, which is almost a dump and chose a typical French restaurant to enjoy our last supper together. It was all rather pricey here but the one we chose looked good enough. The waiters would be considered 'dishy' if you were that way inclined but fairly humerous and down right arrogant. Typical indeed then.

Egg and cheese = 14 Euros.

Desert:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009191.jpg

I reviewed the bill only for the waiter to appear from nowhere and snatch it from my hands  Those words correctly describe his actions. I was bemused as were everyone else. The waiter had realsied he'd undercharged us and corrected it. Comically we didn't leave them much of a tip :jerk:

Don't go here:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v27/FloydM/24hr%20Ring%202009/24hr2009193.jpg

All in all, a great trip and it was good to meet up with the usual crowd and put faces to new people. As for the 24hr race, well, I've done it now but I doubt I'll do it again. Fantastic cars, brilliant atmosphere, company, food etc but all it made me think of is driving it myself as soon as possible :thumb:

The End.

Except it isn't...

After the restaurant we looked for a bar to have a few drinks. Exploring the side roads we saw some waitresses having a smoke outside a bar. This lead onto a conversation about prostitutes, because that's what we thought they were before realising they weren't. Anyway, this describes the end of that conversation.
