When I say owned I mean no finance, no loan nothing. Owned by you lock stock and two smoking exhausts :thumb:

I'm struggling to work this one out I have to say :fish:

1999 406 might be the newest car I have FULLY owned

04-03-2009, 06:26 PM
Hmm, I bought a W reg octavia about 4 years ago, when it would have been about 5 years old. Engine was knocking and it needed some work (paid a cheap price) and made a tidy profit on it. I can't really count that as it was bought for profit, not as a car to use/abuse. Both my silver fabis have/had finance so can't count those, so basically, I've never owned a car outright really.

1986 Opel Ascona, bought for 250 from a mate down the pub :thumb:

04-03-2009, 06:35 PM
2003 Saxo VTR...

I dont beleive in loans and finance (apart from student ones, as I cant do anything about it)... If you cant afford it, dont buy it. Im sure I won't get much further in life with that motto, but I try to stick to it

I bought the Rex with a loan, but after the incident decided to call in some savings to clear the loan so that I didn't really have to worry about what happened with it. So a 3 year old RX8 with an armco shaped front end.

Present 04 Clio 172 was bought outright from an auction in Leeds :thumb:

A 2004 Astra Coupe I bought just over 2 years ago. It had just had it's first MOT when I bought it.

The car before that was a 1980 Mini. Bit of a difference!

I have bought a number of motors from new, no finance :
Talbot Sunbeam, 5k from a dealer in MK, knocked down from 7.5k cos it was July 31st.
Toyota Supra Turbo Mk1, Just under 30k if I remember correctly. Excellent penis enhancement.
Nissan GTiR, 10k from the importer down south.

Plus some Cavaliers and a BMW 525i, etc.

Only buy older cars now. Own all of them outright. No finance, hate it.

My Abarth 500 has a loan on it. Only reason is that I can deduct the entire interest amount from my income tax calculation. This is the first car for several years I have owed money on.

My wife and I bought a Merc SLK, brand new in 2000. Not from a Merc dealer, but from Bramley, which is a sort of posh private outlet for celebs, footballers and the like. Bought it outright, no loan or anything!! Felt sick after letting go of the cheque!!

Still got the car, and still love it!!

That was when hardly anyone had seen one on the road. On the way home I was following my wife (she was driving the new car) and laughed out loud as a chap on a bicycle riding the other way did a double take at the car and rode into the ditch!!!

Have owned 5 cars, last two bought new. Never loaned any money for a car.

04-03-2009, 08:44 PM
1999 Impreza Turbo. 21k after a years waiting list! Swapped it in 2000 for the current Impreza that I still have so technically I haven't lost anything on it yet

Bought a Fiat Bravo brand new too. :shame:

Now I own econoshitters :thumb:

Doesn't really count...

I ordered 2 Vauxhall Corsas in 2004, same colour, same spec, consecutive number plates... Design model circa 11200 otr

Paid 99 per month for each for 1 year, then 5K each final payment!! I only bought one in the end, as the other had a hard life...

04-03-2009, 09:16 PM
my 1998 R reg Astra

04-03-2009, 09:42 PM
I seem to own every other car outright. But it was a proud moment ordering my S2000 brand new and paying 2/3 of the balance on switch :D the rest was p/x

04-03-2009, 10:54 PM
The money I bought the M3 with was technically the surplus from my house improvement mortgage which I'll be paying off until 2014

The only car I have bought without finance/Contract Hire was the MX5 which was a 1992 model though I did pay cash for the M5 but used the 330d Tourer as PX :thumb:

04-03-2009, 11:31 PM
Got my 130i M sport 07 plate when it was 10 months old, bought outright ;)

And love it btw

I bought a '98 Volvo at the weekend, that's only 11 years old which is new by my standards! Not a fan of newer cars really and have only ever owned cars outright.

My wife's Lupo is a 2000 model, bought that for her when it was about 6 years old.

Oh, aside from that, I bought a J-reg ('91) Citroen AX in about 1999 so that was only 8 years old at the time though even at that age it had it's fair share of electrical issues...

05-03-2009, 08:08 AM
I bought a Fiat Multipla JTD Eleganza B) new in 2005!!

I have had another 3 kids since though

Probably the Mondeo sat in a garage at home. Its on an S plate, 1998, not really new though is it :(

Cost me nothing really, well i say nothing. Ford actually owed me 500 which they were taking their time giving back to me. Settled for the mondeo in the end.

I've alway's owed money on cars, ever since i started getting paid a wage. Hopefully clear of that end of this year though.

Dont think I will ever have the cash in the bank to buy a brand new car

05-03-2009, 06:16 PM
Unless it's a supercar and I'm fabulously wealthy then I will never buy new again.

06-03-2009, 12:29 AM

Newest car, 1999 Pug 306 GTi bought for cash in 2008.

Newest Bike, 2006 Suzuki GSXR bought for cash in 2009.

I only buy big things with cash, you know you can afford it then. Plus it's good fun watching people recounting your money time and time again, as the always think you're ripping them off when you hand over an envelope stashed full of 50s.

The Civic is an 06 and is bought and paid for. ;)

The house on the other hand...
