:lol: Amazing bit of kit. The flywheel grows 1mm in diameter when at 65,000rpm, despite the billet core being wrapped in 25mm or so of carbon.

Yep. Mechanical KERS for F1 as implemented Flybrid Systems - set up by a couple of ex-Renault F1 engineers.

Seems like an expensive 'niceity', but that is very cool.

The speed & feed rates and lack of coolant on the machining surprised me!!

We had a SECO demonstration(on a video) in work a few years ago that had similar machining speed to that video.Just a shame that our own hardsurfacing alloy material could never be machined as quick as that.
