It will be a left hooker, bought and registered on the German net (local).

Probably looking at a BMW or similar, budget is €500 ish.

Its purpose will be as a daily commute car (6 mile round trip) and ring toy to save the mileage on the 535.

I'm not going to do much, if at anything all to it. If it gets trashed then so be it, otherwise it will be sold or scrapped when i leave Germany.

What age, model, engine size etc is worth looking for the money i want to part with?

Needs to be suitable for good few 600 mile return trips this year (ie here to the ring).

or, is €500 too ambitious for what i want??

Bizarre as it sounds best off buying in UK & a RHD car,as when ever i see cars pries in Germany of anything ive had in UK golfs, e30s, e36s etc they are all a lot more.

But e500 for a ring toy! bilmey dont want to do more than a lap then! dig a bit deeper & get somethung thats not cack

TBH you won΄t get a lot for 500 eur that is ring ready..I paid 600 eur for the fiesta taxi, 1.4is and 600 eur for the jetta, but both were definitely not ring ready cars.. cheapest track prepped cars you will find overthis way will be around 1500 eur ,,,

I dont want a track prepped one, it will be totally standard. 1990's age too (i have ADAC :D ).

I was just gonna buy a second car that could also get to and around the ring without struggling up hills and if it gets trashed then i'm not bothered about having lost too much money on it.

Are 2nd hand car prices over here not similar to UK then?

I've had a look on Ebay.de, is there a german auto trader equivalent

I looked long and hard for a e30 here in clogville and in germania, germany is best value, but you get what u pay for so it'll be over 2k euros for anthing half decent, closer to 4 or 5 for a really nice one I'd say (318is, 325 etc) In holland they are even more expensive, with pups for sale for 2k plus, i went to see some for more than that, which were fit for scrapping

Cars in UK are remarkably cheap. To give an example an E36 M3 will cost you £4k ish in UK, the equivalent in France is €12000!

There is huge over supply in UK, best place to get cheap cars is a RHD and import it. Or hunt fir a LHD in UK, which is what I did.

Ah well, anyway

I was hopring to pick up a cheap but semi decent 20 year old motor with some grunt, mainly as a second motor/run around but also as a random trip down to the ring car.

I'll have a look at a local second hand dealer i've noticed on the way to Celle but otherwise, looks like my plan is scuppered for now.

Only if the latest buyer pulls out of the deal and Karl is really really desperate ;)

Karl has sold his 944 again but this time he may actually get the money and the car gone. I don't know the value.

Sod it, I'm gonna buy something before my trip back to UK for the Haynes trackday and drive it back.

Probably a Ford so i can use the bits on the Fiesta when i'm done in Germany.

Want a E30 320 touring? You'll have to find a few crates of Warsteiner to add to it, though ;)
