Spires (http://www.spires-st.com) are a new tuning company who have turned the new Jaguar XF into a complete weapon. The guys behind it need to maintain a degree of anonymity, but this car was forged in the Eifel and therefore they're friends of Northloop :thumb:

http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z305/SpinInstructor/SpiresPresspackPhotography17.jpg

I've been helping with the launch by getting it in front of the right people, and it is starting to pay off. Not through my bullshit, the thing speaks for itself.

Recently Jethro Bovingdon drove it for Driver's Republic. The review has just gone up:

http://drivers-republic.com/first_look/fir...5c4c79fb539b026 (http://drivers-republic.com/first_look/first_drives/details.cfm?articleid=27dc54b661b24aeaa5c4c79fb539 b026)

Have a look. Rate it 5 stars. Tell your friends. Cross post onto other forums... Not that I'd wish to influence web stats, you understand

But you understand how these things work ;)

Mid 30's, amazingly.

I've averaged 30 and that's included all sorts of uneconomic behavior

And yup, gate was one of mine ;) :thumb:

Follow the clicky at the top. Prices are all on the website, but you can pick and choose what you want doing. They've just shipped the first orders this week, which is great :thumb:

Cheers Russ ;) I'm really going to miss this thing, it's a really lovely car.

Yes chap. It's got a lot more press stuff to do yet. Of all the times to choose to launch a new tuning business for expensive cars...

However - the XF is bucking the sales trend. There's still a waiting list, residuals are disproportionately good, and it won Car of the Year for a reason. Fingers crossed.

Jim. I remember you telling me about how good this car is. Looks ace and it's great to see that others like it as well.

Good luck to the people behind it. It will be nice to hear of a success story in all this doom & gloom :thumb:

I thought it was a familiar shape. The wifes friend has one in British Racing Green or similar.

Not sure which engine they have in it though.

Just thought Jim, if you can blag a trip to Germany this weekend you can compare the 535d M Sport over here on the autobahns ;)

I rode in that very car in September - ver impressive too although the 'pilot' was a bit crap :fishing:

Good luck :thumb:

I think it looks good. Massive step forward for Jag and it seems to be working for them as they have opened up the under 55 market at last :thumb:

He is a bit toss, isn't he ;)

I wasn't sure about the shape either. But it's grown on me massively.

The shape is growing on me too except every time i see the rear badge it looks odd. Like it's off centre, almost Korean :o

I like the look of this. Are they the gen wheels? They look B)

The shape is growing on me, although from the rear it's a little too much like the new mondeo for me :fish:

Would you but one instead of a 530 / 535d?

I assume that's the sort of car it's pitched against?

I think I would. The Jag will ride loads better than the beemer on run-flats :thumb: All important in Sheffield (the roads are not unlike that dodgy stretch in the no mans land between Belgium and Germany)

On the radio this morning they were saying that the Indian owners are in trouble as sales aren't great. They want the British to prop it up.

530, yes, without a doubt. The 535's party trick of a billion torques is hard to ignore, but it costs so much more than I would ever pay. Be under no illusion, the XF would absolutely hump it down a B-road.

It'll be tested back to back against the BMWs for other publications. I couldn't be more confident about the outcome.

Floyd - for the first time in a long time, that's the LR end of JLR suffering for sales, by the way. XF and the new alloy XK are still resisting the sharp downturn that everything else seems to be seeing.

I'm talking 3 years from now and a lot can happen in that time. From a s/h buyers point of view the cheaper the better...

The difference between this and the BMW is that when you look at the price list you could probably stick a grand on the jag and four grand on the bmw with options. By that time it looks even cheaper :thumb:
