We talked number plates and the dealer will give me a free personal plate. Here in lux you can order two letters and 4 digits. As the car will be upgraded to Esseesse spec i suggested SS 0500 Was told (and I am an aussie so not that sensitive to euro history) You will not get that due to the ummm ummm Nazi thing.

so have come up with a lot of other combos. But I must admit I never thought of the SS thing. Maybe that is why they call them EsseEsse more politically correct.

I'd have asked them to try anyway.

Very nice! Do you get to keep the wooden box the bits come in?? Got to try and get that!

SS0500 would be cool but if someone took offence to the SS bit due to the war and decided to damage the car it would be crap, how about ES instead?

It is Italian. If it had anything reminding them of "the war" they would deliver it with 5 reverse gears B)

Put a Northloop sticker on it. It will be the only bit remaining when the rest of it has rusted away

Need pics once you have it, and you must try and get the wooden crate!! :thumb:

Terence Ledger
03-12-2008, 10:36 AM
I am going to get that crate.

Cannot wait till it is delivered now. It will be upgraded to EsseEsse in Late Jan early feb when I need to change the winter tyres.

Floyd
03-12-2008, 10:38 AM
What happens to the all those winter tyres?

Terence Ledger
03-12-2008, 10:41 AM
You put them back on next winter.

The Esseesse had different rims in the crate so the SS rims will have summer tyres (PZeros??) and the 17inch normal abarth wheels will have the winter tyres.

Need them today here in Lux. Snowing at the moment.

Not having to do this in the UK, I wondered how it works. Do poeple have a spare set of winter wheels or are the tyres removed and replaced? There must be a huge amount of work at the tyre fitters at the time they have to be changed.
Do garages offer to store them or do you have to find somewhere at home?

I realised that they weren't thrown away

Terence Ledger

On my company car the garage stores them. I use the same rims so they have to change the tyres over.

On my wifes car (and the coming Abarth) I have two sets of rims and I change them over in beginning of November and end March.

The garages deal with it pretty well. The company car was booked in the same week we asked for an appointment. But They must have a large storage area somewhere and I am amazed they can track down your tyres.

I was thinking of the storage problem too

Ok I am officially exicited. Saw her at the dealership today. Should have it Monday but may have to wait till Wednesday due to a business trip. They need to have it ready by midday. Had the wrong rims on it but I have been promised that they will be changed.

There was a grey one at Autosport. Nice car but bloody small. Not sure if I could get over the dinky car feel

Terence Ledger
10-01-2009, 06:42 PM
Gary

It is only 50mm shorter than a 205.

And it is wider by about 50mm

Edit. MM not CM

Gary Kinghorn
10-01-2009, 06:44 PM
50cm is half a metre though and that's a fair bit on a car the size of a 205 ;)

Terence Ledger
10-01-2009, 06:47 PM
Sorry got MM and CM mixed up..

A 205 Length is 3705mm a 500 length is 3657

Width 205 1572mm a 500 width is 1627

Sorry about that.

Still looks tiny in the flesh ;)

Well I had her for 4 days now and I am not disappointed. You sit a bit high but everything except the Turbo gauge is perfectly placed.

Handles brilliantly and I cannot get a smile off my face when I am out in her. The wife will be definately confined to the 5 series and the the 968 will not get much use me thinks.

 Turbo guages are for gays, Throttle should be in the carpet or off while your on the brakes, who cares about boost, unless you want to be Vin diesel.

car looks lovely though I'd have one, so there you go Jim, I've answered your question it must be gay

Terence Ledger

It will be upgraded to Esse Esse in March. That is when the Lux dealer will get their first kit.

And I get to keep the box.

Terence Ledger

Well I just want the box OK. Can put my Winter Rims in there.

In regard to the rims. yes current rims have winter tyres on them. I will use the new rims to run the summer tyres. Though I really do like the rims that are on it.

Just got the Abarth upgraded to go faster EsseEsse spec. Really happy with it. Goes like a scalded cat compared to standard. Car is just more urgent. Rides lower, suspension stiffer.

Really chuffed tonight
