Bit of an eventfull weekend this one, but not really for the right reasons, though it proved to be an interesting 3 days.

Having heard on Thursday that the track was going to be open all day Friday we set off earlier than planned for Dover and caught the 8am boat over. 4 hours later we arrived in Adenau, but sadly the snow had beaten us there. I soon worked out the track wasn't going to open that weekend, so we settled in to the Blau Ecke and began on the drink.

My parents had come across for the first time and having had a great day in Cochem they were also dissapointed at the thought of no laps. A few hours later friends turned up and had to break the bad news to them as well!

Anyway after a Chinese and a late night on the Jagermeisters we all headed off to bed.

We woke the next morning to a bright sunny Adenau and wandered up to the bridge. It was very cold! We decided to fetch the cars and then drove to Brunchen and had a brilliant walk round to Shelstreike and back up the test hill, crikey blimey that is steep!

Went for a Pizza and then wandered up to the CC. Said hi to everyone and stayed for a couple before heading back to the BE and eventually getting told "This is the last drink OK!" lol.

Michaela, the girl you have doing the breakfasts is lovely! :shame:

Woke up early on Sunday morning (thanks to the church bells - god how lovely they are at 7am after you've been drinking for 8 hours the night before). Decided we'd get going for home, but had a quick walk round Hatzenbach and up to Bastard Bend.

Everything had frozen over. Set off for home and made it upto and round Brussels just fine, then the snow started. Chaos began. The Belgiums hadn't gritted anything and it fell and fell. It took us 4 hours to get from the exit of the Ring road to Brugge. We got stuck a couple of times, and luckily there was enough of us to push each other out. I honestly thought we were going to end up in the trees at any point. There were lorries jack-knifed, cars in ditches and abandoned vehicles litterd in every lane. I thought we'd all be spending the night on the motorway!

Eventually after doing 5 mph for literally hours we made it through and managed to get a boat home. It was the worst and most scary journey i've ever had to do. Total nightmare! :karl:

However, can't wait to get back, though next time a lap would be cool.

Blimey, not the best trip :(

At least there were other Northloopers there to make it enjoyable :thumb: . Imagine if you didn`t frequent Northloop and turned up alone to find it closed, now THAT would have been a crap weekend !

Living in Portugal, I was hoping for snow last time me and my brother flew in last year in October or November, rented a car with snow tyres and everything, no snow, only enough ice to keep the track closed :(

Im somehow envious

We thought about you guy's yesterday once we'd finally made the port. Glad to hear everything went OK. It was amazing how quickly it all fell.

Apologies for not staying very long in the CC, but was a little odd with two groups, and wanted to talk to both etc. :(

Nige, you are right there. Will see everyone at New Years hopefully.

Tip of the day never pay for winter tyres in Germany, they have to be fitted by law after a certain date in October. It's just a way for the rental companies to try get some more money off of you.

I didnt, Im too cheap to do that, ordered a Polo with normal tyres, they gave me a Golf with winter tyres :thumb:

I figured that if its really necessary they wouldnt have cars with normal tyres in the parking lot anyway

Looks like an interesting trip. I'm glad i opted to drive back home to Germany yesterday then and not Sunday :o . The roads were clear and in some places even dry but the verges and stuff were still covered in snow. It was -5 degrees :o last night at 8pm as i was cruising through Germany. Suffice to say, everything here is still white at the moment.

Some of them Germans are nutters though, i was doing 80 and loads of them were flying past me as if i was still
