With all the talk of the 2009 'ring 24 hours and the trips being planned, I thought i'd better put my belated trip report up. :D

The trip had been planned since Dec 07, so accommodation was booked, flights and hire car sorted.

I knew a couple of people were spannering for one of the UK teams, so i'd also arranged to meet up with them out there.

I was all set, ready to leave on the Thursday, flying from Leeds/Bradford to Dusseldorf, when less than 20 hours before i was due to fly, my mate cancelled and said he couldn't make it!

I called him a c*nt, but at the end of the day, missing out on the trip was his loss, I was definately still going!

So i flew in to Dusseldorf, collected my hire car, a stunning metallic blue Fiat Panda, what a quallity car

Arrived at the Lindenhof around 9.30 and had my first Erdinger of the weekend B)

Collected the keys for my apartment, a nice 2 bedroom place all to myself.

Friday, got up and decided to have a wander around, before meeting up with the lads from the team.

Eventually found them, got sneaked in to the pits and introduced to the team, then used the team paperwork to get my access all areas pass for something like 25, a total bargain compared to ANY UK event.

It was busy, with lots of last minute preparation going on.

Lots of nice cars as well!

We travelled around the circuit, watching the various support races, looking around the pits, watching the parades and stuff, then did the usual night time activity of drinking beer, eating meat products and talking cars!

Up on Saturday, had breakfast then met up at the pit garage.

I did a bit of running about for parts and the panda was brilliant, it would go anywhere off road, and could park in the tightest of spaces

Back to the track for the start and a wander about in the pits/pit lane, it was busy!http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n115/sim16v/N24%202008/CameraPics316.jpg

There were a few cool cars in the race!

This was the car I was supporting :D

Then all of the cars did their parade stuff, i only managed to get some of them!

Including the new Scirocco!

And some modern classics.

The race progressed through the day, we watched from various points.

and continued to wander around.

Later in the evening we sneaked away, and had a fantastic meal at the Hotel Wilhelmsoe, definately worth the treck out.

We returned to the track, watched some more racing and saw lots of people asleep at the track.

It was obvious they had a bit to drink

We watched the racing,

Drank a bit ourselves, then I eventually got to bed around 5am!

I was knackered and didn`t get up until nearly lunch time, met back at the pits and watched the rest of the race!

Eventually the race finished, some were unlucky and didn`t even start, this never moved all weekend :(

and others had incidents on track.

Others were a bit more fortunate, the final result:

And Parc ferme at the end of the race:

The lovely shiney Scirocco after 24 hours of racing!

After the race, i helped pack the truck up, said my goodbyes and drove up to Dusseldorf, as i had to be at the airport at early o'clock the next day.

A fantastic weekend that WILL be repeated!
