Posted in here to ensure people see it, will move it in a few days.

Gary, Jim, Floyd, Simon and Ring Skoda.

6.30am, that’s the time Jim was supposed to be picking me up. When it got to 6.45am I thought ‘’No, I’m not ringing him, he will only think I’m hassling him’’. 7am I thought, ‘yeah actually I will call’’. The reply I got when the phone was eventually answered was a slurred ‘’Bollocks, on way’’ Yep he was still fast asleep.

Plenty of fog but an easy trip to my brothers in Chatham to meet up with Floyd and Simon with the Ring Skoda

25 minutes later we had managed to get the Skoda to cruising speed and were well on our way to the tunnel. Just before we got there we got a call from Bubbles saying he was on his way with Lauren and they would be on the same crossing as us.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_0620.jpg

Over the other side we set off after the R8 and gradually hauled him down and passed him.
When we all stopped for fuel we met up with these guys who had also destroyed the R8 on the Brussels to Liege road. They were on their way to compete in the Spa 24hr so we gave them a Northloop sticker to help hold the car together.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5038.jpg

Bubbles asked if I fancied a stint in the R8 for a change of scenery. I thought about it long and hard before agreeing. He then threw me the keys and said you’re driving, I’m tired. ‘’Oh ok then’’
A nice experience and I was lucky enough to get the entertaining part of the drive to do. I was amazed how civilised the car was pulling cleanly from 20mph in 6th gear.

We arrived at the ring in time to watch the end of the VLN racing.

Up to the Burgstube to see Martin and Andy and get checked in. Karl was already on the phone asking where we were so 10 mins later we were on our way to the comfy corner.

As per usual Jorg was putting on a good show for us.

It was great to catch up with so many old friends after what seems like a very long time.

The only problem was we appeared to have double booked with a train spotters convention

The beer was being consumed at a silly rate and everyone got very drunk. Andy won the prize for the drunkest person in Adenau that night though

Late on Jim and I looked round to see where our lift was. Hmmm he had gone home an hour ago. Ross and Bren kindly agreed to get us back to Nurburg. It was a little cramped though. Jim and I both had to get into the boot of a fiesta. On the way I thought it was cold as the boot wasn’t shut and repeatedly slammed it to try to resolve the issue. Jim later told me it was his shoulder I was slamming it on.

Back at the room we decided Floyds bed should be thrown out the window with him in it. He put up a bit of a fight before doing an impression of a limpet crab exiting his shell and jumping into the next available one. That left me with a mattress on the floor and no strength to put it back on the bed. I lay down and slept where I fell.

Sunday morning was not looking good. The hang over from hell was in the air and I was not feeling good. Down to breakfast, Martin put on a full English for us. Some of the others joined us. Russ, Shak, Craig and his Lotus friends, Weeman and a couple of newbies.

That done it was down to the track. Just one small problem, pee soup fog. How long did it last? Till just after lunchtime, that’s how long.

By now the place was heaving and there was a good chance to talk to those I had only said a drunken hello to the night before. To name a few, Bren, Ross, Dave bloody well can drive, Juanjo and Rachel, jf Cole, jon r, Chris, Dale, ufuk and Einar.

When the track finally opened I happened to be near Jim and the Ring beemer so against my better judgement off we went. We made it to T13 before the old girl gave up the ghost
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5053.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5042.jpg

Sean asked me if I fancied a lap driving the R8. I jumped at the opportunity and off we went. We put in a reasonable pace lap considering it was my first lap of the year, the track was very busy and I was driving someone else’s £90K car. A very easy car to drive and plenty of fun.

Then I sat next to Sean for a lap and enjoyed having him throw me around.

Of course the inevitable happened as it normally does with late openings and busy days. The track was soon closed. When this happened for the 3rd or maybe 4th time I decided my hangover had got the better than me and retired to the Burgstube for a good hard sleep.

The others came back at around 6pm and woke me up.

I nearly didn’t make it to the Pistenklause that evening but managed to force myself. Like you do. Earlier Sean and I had joked that the only good pics of the R8 were bound to have been ones with me driving. Jochen confirmed this 2 mins after walking through the PK door.

The usual Steak on the stone and beer (not for me) ensued. NeVeTas and james joined us too.

Monday morning and glorious sunshine. This was really lucky for RSR else their morning track day would have been cancelled.

After a bit of a lie in Andy set to making the breakfast. He did a marvellous job, even though Jim kept getting in the way.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5075.jpg

Floyd, Shak and I nipped to T13, then Hatzenbach, then flugplatz to take a few pics.

Ron was out doing his stuff in the Prosport.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5077-1.jpg

Juan thought it was August. Although he might just have been excited at the thought of driving a GTR the next day
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5043.jpg

Back in the car park Simon still needed parking lessons
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5100.jpg

Jim blagged a pax lap in the Prosport with Ron. They came back with a broken exhaust.

At around 1pm the track opened for tourist laps and out everyone went. Only this time it was far quieter than the day before.

Floyd was quick to jump in the R8
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v501/tvr400/Nurburgring%20Oct%202008/IMG_5099-1.jpg

I had a wander round and a chat to Andy (Sixspeed) and his friend (whose name I have forgotten :shame: ) who asked me if I would drive his 205 for him. I didn’t take much persuading a nicely moded Mi16 was going to be fun. A very nice lap it was too, the car felt strong and sure footed. Hopefully he enjoyed it too.

Down to Adenau for some lunch and it was time to play again. Jim offered me the keys to the 335. He and Russ followed in Russ’s E36 M3. I had pax’d with Russ earlier and knew he was quick, so I was keen to be away on my toes. All too quickly Russ caught me but he was happy to tuck in behind while I did my stuff in the E30. It was my first E30 lap on the ring and I really enjoyed it. The 335 proved to be a very enjoyable bit of kit.

By 5pm we all decided we would run for the hills. Bills paid we were on our way. Sean left a full 30 mins before us. When we arrived at the tunnel terminal there was no sign of Sean. He turned up 15 mins later after Shat Naf had taken him on several detours around the French countryside ………. R8, pahhhhh, Ring skoda is the way forward.

Back in blightly it was a quick dash for him and I was knocing zed’s out by 1am.

A great weekend with great friends. The Northloop family just keeps growing and getting better and better.

Special mention to

Jorg for the meal on Saturday - Brilliant sir

Martin Burgs tube - for the accomodation, comfy and friendly

Sean, Jim, Alex - letting me drive their charges.

Nice write up Gary, sorry I never tracked you down and sorry you never got that passenger lap with Fubar (mind it was his Birthday on the Saturday night so probably for the best that he decided against driving on the Sunday). Next time we are going to make sure we have a weekday built in for the Ring as it was just so busy on the Sunday... won't be this year so roll on 2009.

Dont worry the mini isnt always to my taste some days either but it is different. Been a typical woman i couldnt pick one colour so i went for them all!!

Yer i was there in August too, just cant wait to go back now!! Think i might need a new car though, the mini sticks to the track but i need something faster.

Yer i was there in August too, just cant wait to go back now!! Think i might need a new car though, the mini sticks to the track but i need something faster.
Have we met before?

May i reccomend a 1.9CDti Astra Sportive SE Van , very nice
"if this vans a rocking dont come a knocking" [/b][/quote]

Van looked to go really well. Not often discussed on here but what sort of BTG does it do out of interest?

Thanks Gary , to be fair I dont know , It was just too busy to put one together. My last one did a 9.20 on a totally clear lap but with barriers near the f1 entrance due to the bikes being on there.

Hoping this will be well into the 8's then

I should have asked for a pax lap then. I was worried that you'd stop off at Adenau for a bacon sarny and the Sun newspaper though ;)

Easy 8:XX's Paul, I was watching the clock and we passed the gantry sub-9:00 on that flying lap we had, you know the one before all the brake and tyre fade, haha.

So thats it , im ready for 09

Anyone is welcome for a pax , be aware I have not done half as many laps as some of you boys mind! I just try to be as smooth & as fast as possible.

To give and idea of general speed she hits 130 on the nose (speedo) befroe SchwedenKreuz (spelling!?)

Ah, the van passed me on the sunday coming towards SX. Sadly the Clio was already approaching the limiter in top, so it'd already managed V max at that stage!
