Hello All,

Finally Iíve had the time to complete my write up on my May 2008 trip over to the ring so thought i'd share it will all.

As with the previous years trip we were more than happy to return using 'The Nurburgring Experienceí arranged package provided by Keith (AKA Mav).

The experience got off to slick start from the point of booking. Website is well presented and responses to enquiries are dealt with very efficiently. You pay the money and instructions follow in due course detailing ferry requirements etc. All you have to do then is to count down the number of sleeps till the day you leave home bound for the ferry port.

You arrive at the ferry terminal, get yourself booked in and meet up with Mav who hooks you up with the group who are also there to enjoy the experience. Pickup a nice English breakfast and discuss the road trip with Mav and the group; advice/instructions are given at this point to ensure the trip runs smoothly as you are about to embark on a splendid road trip to Germany.

En-route to Germany you make many stops to ensure everyone gets time to freshen up, refuel (body and fuel tanks!) and general chat about the experience so far. You continue in convoy following Mavís lead; his car stands out in the distance (big Orange VW!) so this makes it hard to loose sight but that said regardless of the car he does a fantastic job of managing the drivers and keeping everyone from getting lost.

Arriving at the Hotel early evening you book yourself in. The staff are friendly, venue is nice and atmosphere is relaxed. You see the evening out with a nice meal, a few beers (or Latteís if youíre a lightweight like me!) and some chat about the new few days of excitement to follow.

Format for the following day was simple. Get up, eat breakfast, have a short briefing about the Ring and then set off to the Ring to check it out. Mav explains the support levels he provides to ensure the pack are always safe and co-ordinated. Itís reassuring advice which keeps you at ease for the weekend Ė if you have any problems, you just need to get in touch and heíll do whatever he can to help you out.

Mav leads the way for those who arenít sure where they are going. At the Ring car park everyone parks up for a mooch around to see all the other flashy motors parked up. You can then decide if you wish to embark on your first lap of the ring or go to check out the spectator points. Midday soon arrives and the pack re-join to discuss the inventory for the rest of the afternoon.

Busy Busy Busy....

Due to a busy first day at the Ring Mavís suggestion to explore some of the local roads was welcomed. Donít be fooled, the roads outside the ring are actually very enjoyable and highly recommended to further enhance the ring experience. This took up the next portion of the day and returned us nicely to a quieter Ring in the afternoon. For those who wanted, you could do some more laps or head back to the hotel to chill out and ready themselves for more beers and a pleasurable meal.

Check out the consequences of a dude (not in our group) that had a loose fuel pipe....

The format for the next two days was very similar. Due to the well received road trip from previous day the group decide to have another one. Mav picks yet more perfect roads and a great venue to stop off at and enjoy some refreshments.

On the final day everyone eats the last breakfast and prepares their steeds for the final leg back to the ferry port. But hang on, there is one last bonus Ė Micheal Schumacher go-karts! Yes, the group stops off for a quick blast around the go-kart circuit. Totally awesome fun.

Making it in plenty of time the group arrives at to the ferry terminal, parks up and discusses the final dayís experiences. All credit to Mav the experience had been free from any complications and well controlled which is what a good holiday should be about.

As the ferry docks back in Dover everyone says their final farewells and departs for home.

Top stuff Ė Thanks for another excellent trip Mav.

If i manage to get across next year I shall book again with the Nurburing Experience :thumb:

Must have been the same weekend we were there as I remember being behind the white GTR in the queue, and remember hearing about the spontaneously combusting 911.

Was excellent weather! B)

Yeah, it think it was mate. The same weekend I was there along with the CATDT crowd.

Mav and his mate rescued my mate Kev and his fiancee when his gearbox exploded on the Brussels ring road on the trip home.
