It's official, the Shagon Wagon (Jake's name for his 540 Touring) has survived the Nurburgring! 30 laps of the mighty Nordschleife were completed over the Easter weeekend.

We set off from Jake's house on Thursday at stupid O'Clock to catch the early morning ferry, we met up with a couple of M3's along the way.

Jake does his Winston Churchill impression for the camera, unfortunately Dave sees it quite differently :P

When we arrived in Nurburg on Thursday the track was still damp so we had a few quiet laps and hoped things would improve. Friday was a slow starter with the track taking time to dry, it was so cold, I think it was about 7 or 8 degrees. But we did manage to get a good number of laps in, the new system where the additional barrier has been added to the pit straight really does work.

The track began to dry and it was time to unleash the beast.

Some nice machinery was to be seen in the car park, someone had been busy over the winter building these sister Jagermeister 6 Series - Nice.

Good to meet Dan & Kim, you seemed to be having fun in a car which was even older than the Touring!

So, my first experience of the Ring at Easter - Would I do it again? Yes but I would always choose to take my own car in the warmer months, I'm soft I supose :gay:

Monday night and our trip was all but finished, there was one last surprise for our Ring Taxi driver Jake, Sabine joined us for a drink in the Pistenklause, a nice end to what was a fantastic trip. (I don't think Jake has quite got over meeting the Queen of the Nurburgring - "Jake, wake up Jake, you gotta go back to work"

I'll be back in July with a steering wheel in my hands instead of a camera, I think this Nurburgring disease has well and truly got a hold on me.

Excellent stuff. Very jealous.

The famous Dave, is he on this forum?

I met him at Donington in December just gone! What an awesome sounding M3.

Glad you had fun. I've got the Nurburgring bug too, see you there later this year!

No, Dave isn't on this forum, it's only the second time he's been to the Ring and the first time was in his road car and only did about 4 laps, he was lapping in under 9 mins, not bad for someone who doesn't know the track, thats not me in the touring but I did do a few laps without a helmet, which is most unlike me

Here is a pic of me riding with Dave (and wearing a helmet)

It is a smart car...The noise of the thing is unreal. About 270bhp from memory talking to him at Donny. I went out in it there in the wet, very nicely set-up car, with lots of power.

Dave's car takes it's colour scheme from a model that the BMW Car Club of America had issued to celebrate it's 30th anniversary - Just in case anybody was wondering where such an odd colour scheme came from!
